"Fruit makes you fat" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ....Say what? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Just think that one through for a second. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There is no one food (or food group) that can single handedly cause weight gain. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Let's break this down for a second ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1 medium banana (118 g) has 105 calories and 27 grams of carbohydrates. ⚖️Let's say your maintenance calories AKA your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is 2,000 calories per day. Technically, you could eat 19 bananas per day and not gain weight. But let's say you aim to get 40% of your daily calories from carbohydrate so your goal is 200 grams of carbs per day ✨You could still eat 7.5 bananas and not exceed your carb goal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Realistically, you'd probably just eat one banana (maybe pre-workout, to give you a little energy boost) or sliced on an english muffin with peanut butter (my personal fave) and you still wouldn't come close to exhausting your carbs for the day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What about weight loss? If your TDEE is 2,000 calories per day, then anything below that would be considered a deficit. Let's go with 1,500 calories per day with 40% of your calories coming from carbs (150 grams of carbs per day). You STILL have plenty of room for a banana (or multiple, if you choose!) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sounds like a lot of math? Sure, but I'm not suggesting you get your calculators out. What I am suggesting is that your body needs more energy than you might realize. And understanding your calorie and macronutrient goals can help you to stop vilifying foods. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's not about counting every calorie or every gram of each macronutrient. It's about AWARENESS so that you can stop labelling foods as "on or off limits"

Finally got my hands on @nature_nates_llc popped sorghum! I packed it as a snack to take with us to NYC for the week, but my beau and I opened the bag on our 5 and a half hour flight and we finished the whole bag somewhere about 30,000 feet above Chicago. Very yummy and an excellent alternative to one of my favorite foods—popcorn.
