Where did everybody start out with tools? This is the first "real" piece of American iron I bought and restored. A 1979 Powermatic 60 8" jointer that I got for $600 on eBay. I bought this in October of 2008. It was originally used by the WM Wrigely company (the gum company!) back when companies had full shops in-house to make things. Setting up a new, and very well made Mustard colored lathe. This is one of those tool purchases that should be my last. My previous lathe was one of those regrettable tool purchases. That lathe was too light, and underpowered for my purposes(cheap). I should have listened to FWWs tool expert @rolandjohnson19 advice before that previous lathe purchase, and went with this Mustard brand machine then. One of the big advantages that we have with Instagram is, the ability to research our tool purchases with others. With this being the first box I've made, I was a little curious to see just how well tape would actually clamp everything in place. To my surprise it was a solid way to assemble everything! * Have you built boxes before? If so, how do you clamp them?

Well this is what I spent a good bit of time working on Sunday. Currently I’m editing the video, but you get to see the results here first. Using my shop made "track saw" to prep some 8/4 for a 10' table glue up. 1. Pull string line and mark where straightedge will go. 2. Attach straightedge. 3. Rip edge. 4. Rip opposite edge on table saw. 5. Flip and rip first edge. 6. Now glue it up. I didn't feel like fighting 10' 8/4 on my little Powermatic 6" short bed jointer.
