Soo.. you may have wondered, why on earth are you in the middle of nowhere Manitoba for your 1 year anniversary..? Well, and I’m not joking when I say this, my husband has a VERY strong obsession with dinosaurs So after 5 hours of sitting in the dirt, in the sun, this is kinda what my day looked like, having fun and happy Mr.Francypants is happy. But over it after the first hour... Did I mention, I planned this trip! What we do for our loves #marriedtorossgellar
Ran into another fantastic milkweed this weekend. This lanky beauty is Asclepias amplexicaulis or the clasping milkweed. I have seen species almost every summer since moving to Illinois. Its not common everywhere but get yourself to sandy soils and you can sometimes be treated to quite sizeable populations. This is the first time I have ever encountered plants in bloom. Most often I arrive late. This year I was right on time. And what a show! I love how exaggerated the flowers look with their widely spaced hoods and claw-like horns. What a great day of botanizing!
