This was a fun craft to go along with the book Pete the Cat I love My White Shoes. I just cut an outline of a shoe from white paper, punched some holes, & added yarn for shoelaces. You can let your child help punch the holes & thread the shoe laces to work on fine motor skills. We then decorated Pete's shoes in all the colors that he stepped in. We also added more colors and talked about what he could have stepped in to turn the shoes that color.
In the middle of the night, a curious-looking cat beckons a little girl into another world. As she falls up into this world (the first clue about its strangely wonderful and deliciously magical nature), each of her encounters is unexpected, fantastical, joyfully unusual...like a dream. Christian Robinson’s debut as an author/illustrator will leave readers with stars in their eyes, wondering if a mysterious magical portal will ever open up for them. Some of us older readers are still hoping…

When kids get mad, sometimes they need some reminders to use their words to talk that anger out. We wrote an award winning book about one little guy who got so mad that he saw a mad monster as his reflection and the more he yelled, the bigger the monster got. They had to explore what helped him feel better. And as he LEARNED TO USE HIS WORDS the monster happily faded, shrunk, and went away. .
Thanks @lauralinnknight for a thoughtful review of our book (now in it’s 7th printing and available on Amazon) #whenmilesgotmad.

MY FIRST WORDS [Early Learning Books]• #ad I am so happy to announce another exciting new partnership - my first ever with a children’s book publishing company in fact. Clever Publishing @cleverbooks.us creates amazing, colorful, educational books for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers! I don’t often share books on my feed, but they are a HUGE part of our lives and @cleverbooks.us has added the most gorgeous, fun and vibrant early learning books to our collection ••••••••••••••••••••• Today I want to share this brand new series because these books are unlike any I’ve seen (link to them is in my bio today). What I love about the new My First Words series is that my one year old, three year old AND my oldest (5.5 yo) are all getting so much out of them. My youngest toddler is learning so much with these chunky format books, complete with 150 pages () and *designed to help expand a toddler’s vocabulary!* The small size is perfect and adorable for his little hands and great to keep him busy in the car. My 5.5 yo is learning to read and this is such a great beginning reader book for him to practice! It’s not a board book, though it may look like it on the outside. (The pages are thin and it’s chunky because it’s jam packed with vocab.) So, it doesn’t feel too baby-ish to him. ••••••••••••••••••• Head to the link in my bio today - check out Clever Publishing and this impressive new My First Words series for your babies through pre-K aged little ones. •••••••••••••••••• Which of these three new titles would your little one go for?! Leave a comment below! #cleverpublishing
Oh my gosh cutest book EVER! My four year old wants to read it All The Time! The pictures are perfect, the writing is hilarious and I love this take on Little Red! Finding great books like these make me so happy! What are you reading right now? .

Seemed like a perfect moment to share Hey, Water! since we are nothing if not wet from today’s deluge of rain. As can be surmised from the title, the book is all about water — its forms, facets and nuances — from the tiniest, silent tear to a wide, rushing river. And indeed, water does “roar and pour” (like today’s rainstorm). Antoinette Portis brings a colorless subject to life, making it playful and enjoyable for little ones. As always, she brings magic and wonder to the quotidian, and we love her for it. Author’s notes about water forms and water conservation close this delightful book.
Hey, Water! was written and illustrated by Antoinette Portis (@bathingonthemoon) and published by Holiday House (@holidayhousebks). It’ll be out on March 19!
