Happiness is a choice and it starts with gratitude. We can choose to notice the good that we already have in our lives, even though, (and especially when) things may be going differently than we had hoped. The idea of “just be happy” is an over-simplification; gratitude and happiness are daily practices. It’s making a conscious decision to counter our negativity bias by paying attention to the good moments in our lives - like loved ones who care about us, access to nutritious food, or a stranger lending a helping hand.⠀

Everyone has a negativity bias, and in many cases, we tend to be super hard on ourselves. It doesn’t have to be that way. We can build our self-worth by training the positive aspects of our mind. Practice loving language and self-compassion. Make your observations constructive, motivational, and encouraging of growth vs. unconscious, unfair and personal attacks. We spend 24hrs a day with ourselves and we have the power to lighten them up. Resist being mean to yourself - you deserve better!⠀

Suffering and pain are a natural part of life, that everyone at some point will have to encounter. Maybe you are currently going through something, or you have lingering pain that has you wondering if it will ever go away.

No matter how tremendous the pain that you feel, allow it to keep your heart wide open, to keep it soft. Remember: you were meant to be soft. Hardness is a byproduct of self-defense and ego; when you allow pride to drop away, when you truly listen with your heart, that’s when real communication comes out, when true purpose surfaces, and when you can live your most expansive life.
It’s ok to mourn. It’s ok to be disappointed. It’s ok to cry. And it’s ok to not be ok. But through it all, remain soft and remember that there is truly beauty all around.

The body is very important in your life’s journey. Make sure there aren’t any leaking holes. While the problems might seem small at first, close monitoring can prevent them from getting bigger. A captain runs tests to make sure the boat is nice and healthy for sailing. How do you do a body scan to make sure you are feeling and functioning well?
