Full Circle Moment I spent some time scrolling my Instagram archives last night to find the absolute perfect thing to say in response to all of the magical energy around the @chroniconofficial launch yesterday. I saw this and burst in to tears. My loves,THANK YOU, for getting this thing I decided to create in a way I have been dreaming of for months now. I remember so many months of being unable to move, or nights where I would bleed through my sheets from scratching my skin, or just the pain of being alive and praying to God that it was all happening for a reason. On one particularly low day when I was just 15 years old, I was so lost from all my body was going through and I asked God to make it all stop. For good. But God had other plans and I heard him answer back. The message I got was “this is happening for a much greater reason than you think”. Those words were my lifeline for what would be many more years of my health struggles and Chronicon makes me feel like it all makes more sense than ever before. Thank you for liking our page, for embracing this idea, for already buying tickets, for sharing it far and wide, for messaging me with SO much love and countless other ways that you have all filled my heart. Hey! For those who don’t know memy name is Ellen Kindelsperger, owner of The Chiro Lab in Boulder, CO. - A little about my own journey to holistic health: - In college I ran on scholarship for the University of Northern Iowa with the hope of reaching my full potential as a 400m runner. At the end of my Freshman year it was decided that I would also venture into the 800m after running a decent time in a medley. - - Training volume increased and so did the stress on my body. My right knee started to swell up, and so did my left wrist...then my right ankle! And naturally my left ankle joined the party. - I was diagnosed as having tendinitis...and after several injections of cortisone, fluid aspirations, and a boot to the right foot (the worse of the two), I felt no better and that felt that perhaps tendinitis was not the right diagnosis. - An 18 year old with tendinitis in four different joints at the same time? Sounded more systemic and inflammatory to me. - Long story short...I was eventually diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis, an autoimmune disorder where my body was attacking its own joints. - - I had known about my skin condition psoriasis since the age of 3, but this inflammatory part was new to me and really raining on my collegiate running parade. - - Frustrated with the western medicine route, I decided to go on an anti-inflammatory diet in my own. And holy sh** did it work! Within two weeks my lesions had disappeared...which NEVER happened before. My joints improved some, but I also had 3 more years of running to do. Today my joints are a-ok because I can monitor them on my own terms. - - I decided to use this increased knowledge of how the body could heal itself and take it a step further by applying to chiropractic school. I felt that being a chiropractor would allow me to own my own business in addition to helping people in a holistic way. - - So...in a nutshell...that’s it! - - Disclaimer: my results are my own and the anti-inflammatory diet will work in its own way for you.
