I've recently formed a habit of praising my daughter every day. What I've observed is, praise can motivate and encourage kids. Today, I went to pick up Aastha from school because I got few official work and wanted to surprise her at the same time. Today is not a special day but I thought to pamper her in a different way. Being a parent, our actions are very powerful for our kid and I've really witnessed this today. The moment she saw me, she ran up to me with a huge smile on her face and gave me a big hug. She asked me, why I came to pick her up so I answered "You have really behaved well this entire week, finished your homework all by yourself and so I thought to surprise you". Here, I didn't buy any gifts or did anything out of my way to make her feel special. Just a simple gesture, made her day. When our child does something really good, we need to help them recognise what he/she did and honestly, kids love to be told how wonderful they are. While Aastha leaves for school in the morning, I just say one sentence "Behave the way you always do" and she gets the message, it may be different for every parent but my motive is to build her self esteem. Again, there are times when I praise her so that she can try new, more difficult activities. Instead of bribing her to do her homework, I shower her with praises. Recently we visited this salon called @divasanddudespune at royal heritage mall, NIBM road Pune. So, @divasanddudespune is a kids only salon for a hassle free and drama free experience. We visited the salon for my daughters haircut and it was a great experience. The hair stylist is specially trained for handling kids hair and kids themselves. Like Saanvi has pretty thick hair and thus she gets tired in between as her hair cut takes quite some time. But this guy was so patient with her. The salon also had books to keep kids busy during the hair cut and they also have small TVs installed right in front of the seat for younger kids. The seat is an amazing part. They are car shaped and attractive. The older kids have a proper salon chair to sit on. Apart from haircut they also have a build a buddy station( wherein you can stuff your own buddy and you even get a birth certificate for it) and a DIY station (wherein you can make your own slime, body lotion, soap and lip balm). Saanvi enjoyed making her pink buddy and pink lip balm (yes, she is obsessed with pink). Coming to hair care, they do have other services like hair styling, tonsure/ mundan (for younger kids), live treatment, hair tattoos etc. Also, they have their mini hair wash station and a manicure, pedicure and nail art station to pamper the kids. Overall it's a must visit and great experience for kids. Who doesn't love pampering right? And why should adults have all the fun It is also a great place to host birthday parties or other kiddo parties.
