The Waking Land : Read for the @foxandwit #fnwreadchallenge for July Book with a Prince : Fox Forest for the win ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Negatives = Weird pacing. Too many characters for single perspective. Felt like multiple separate stories stitched together. One of the main characters died and I felt nothing. Felt nothing for the romance. Motivations felt unnatural and it felt at times like things happened solely to progress the plot, not because it made sense in that situation. Felt rushed and dragged at the same time. I was not a fan of the resolution of Elanna's thoughts and feelings about her mother and father.
Positives = In the beginning, there was good writing in the way a 19yo would act having been raised by the enemy since she was 5yo. Interesting premise. Victorie is an amazing character (she was seriously underused). The beginning was good.

I didn't outright hate anything about this book. I just either didn't really like it or thought it was okay. 1.75 rating. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #readingchallenge #greenbooks #reading #readbooks
One of the things that has always stuck with me from my degree is that enjoyment of reading has a bigger impact on educational success than a parents socio-economic status, which is a HUGE deal! And that the attainment gap between girls and boys would be bridged significantly if boys read as much as girls, and that is only the case because of socially learned habits rather than an inherent disinterest in reading compared to girls.
So we have started our first year of the summer reading challenge! (Noah and Rupert are doing it too but were too interested looking at their booklets to join the picture ). I have fond memories of the summer reading challenge growing up, laying in the roof box on top of the car reading whilst camping and taking my sister’s books because she always picked much better ones than me (and had consistently higher levels of attainment than me just to emphasise the previous point haha). Happy summer reading #summerholidays #readingchallenge
I just finished "Soulless" quicker than expected, and I was worried I would have to go another transition day without having a book. Turns out my book jar was looking out for me, as the next book I pulled out was "Looking for Alaska," one of the books I own :) This one fulfills the category of "A book everyone's talking about." #youngadultbooks #readingchallenge #johngreen #lookingforalaska

Book no 37! On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong. The word masterpiece is often bandied around but I genuinely think this fits the bill. It’s a fairly slim book but covers what it’s like to be an outsider in more ways than one, the horrifying impact of war on generations of a dysfunctional family, the opioid crisis and above all the life saving necessity of having a voice. Its non linear structure and asides into poetry won’t be for everyone but this is a raw and beautiful book #reading #summerreading #bookstagram #books #readingchallenge
⁉️#qotd - What's your favourite book of the year so far?
‼️#aotd - I've read a few great books so far this year, but I'd have to say Finding the Light by @jmstalder
Hey guys, happy Tuesday! Hope you're having a fab day, today has been a better day even though I was at work I'm spending the night helping my parents babysit one of my nephews and spending some time with them tomorrow
#featuredbook - The Secret Circle by LJ Smith - this is one of my favourite series ever, I've adored this series for so long
#readingchallenge
#backpackingtalesummer - Ice Cream - Guilty Pleasures
#currentlyreading - Claiming Sarah by Susan Stoker - I recieved this free digital copy from @netgalley and Montlake Publishing in exchange for an honest review. I'm not very far in yet but it's a quick read and it sounds really good
Started the next Man Booker nominee and found that this nominee challenges my love of conventional prose, and narrative. Max Porter has incorporated poetry, and stream of consciousness by way of seemingly (but not) crowd-sourced lines of thought...this book will take at least one full read and three re-reads for me to 'get' it. I'm certain that other readers got it immediately. Um. Not me. Clearly a super-creative, writer innovative. #manbooker2019 #supportauthors # #readingchallenge #readinglist
