Rainbow silk water play. ⁣ This was new to us but I thought the different texture of having the silk in the water would be fun. I left air bubbles in it for the boys to discover and they loved the way the air moved when they pressed the silk! I was inspired to make these colour hunt cards after seeing a book like this on my friend @adventureninjafamily stories last night. As miss 2 has been enjoying outdoor play recently, I thought we could use these to get some more vocab practice and colour recognition. This morning she took to them right away and walked around the garden looking through the cutouts. She didn't really stick to matching the colours but we had good chats about what she saw. I was carrying bub in one arm so it wasn't something I was able to capture in my stories. Mr 8 also loved having a go, and spent time outside after school finding the colour matches. These took me a solid half an hour to draw and stencil cut last night, but I can see these cards being used regularly- either outside or indoors! T O M A T O My son picked an abundance of cherry tomatoes off our tomato plant recently and we used them to make sauce for a delicious gnocchi dinner! My little boy couldn’t believe that a tomato is actually a fruit because it has seeds. To explore this concept a little further we flicked through our ‘Farm Anatomy’ book by Julia Rothman (swipe left) and read some interesting facts about tomatoes. He loved the diagram of the cross section of a tomato so I thought I would make a bigger version as a tactile learning board. WaytoPlay Our WaytoPlay roads from @oskarswoodenark get so much love from Gerard now and he’s the perfect age for building the tracks himself although his planning still needs a lot of work he likes to build all the intersections first in a big group and then adds straight pieces until he runs into furniture or toys and we hear a big “oh no!” This is made with the King of the Road set, straight extension pack and the original 16 piece set we started with!

I realised today I haven’t rotated the playroom in four weeks!! It’s definitely overdue, Eleanor has started asking when she gets up from naps if I’ve changed it yet hopefully I’ll find the energy soon!!

How cool are these stunning new timber shape blocks from @ellecollective_kids!! Lauren designed these, along with a whole printable pack including matching cards to help show your kids how the shapes can fit together to form new shapes! Check out that concentration and swipe for Gerard’s face when he makes the circle!! They can be used for so much more too, Eleanor took the blocks and started making a cake at one point with the cards as layers in between! And then used all the blocks to make her own creation - see the last photo! I think these will be such a great educational and fun resource for the kids for years to come!

I love a good toy rotation day as it gives me loads of peace and quiet to get stuff done around the house while Elijah immerses himself in "new" toys His reaction is always priceless and makes the little bit of effort so worth it

• PASTA NECKLACES • Not winning any awards for originality with this one, but I think there’s a reason this is a classic! . The girls loved it! They made themselves necklaces and then made some for grandma and their Aunty, and they’ve got plans to make more for other family members because I made so much pasta! . I used rigatoni because the holes are bigger than penne so it made it easier for Miss 3 to thread. I used one packet, and put the pasta into five separate zip lock bags. Then I poured a few drops of food colouring and a splash of vinegar into each bag and shook it around, and let it dry for an hour or so on baking paper . I put a piece of cardboard at the end of some string so that they could thread the pasta without it falling off . This is a great no-mess quiet activity, a great one for a rainy day!! .
