An unusual case of HYPERCEMENTOSIS This is a patient I treated at Guy's Dental Hospital during my postgraduate training. The patient was referred to the endo department from oral surgery because the extraction of LR6 would have been difficult. The patient was also keen to try and save the tooth. PCO: Pain LR6 I.O: LR6 TTP, isolated pocket in the furcation and abscess associated A PA and CBCT scan were taken (see images) and revealed a peri-radicular radiolucency and hypercementosis Diagnosis: Chronic apical periodontitis associated with an existing root canal filling & Hypercementosis I carried out root canal retreatment of the LR6. It can be tricky to know where to finish the preparation in these cases- here I prepared the root canals to the apex locator reading.
