Shop Sounds I'm flat out excited about this router flattening jig that I finished up last night! It was super easy to put together and utilitizes two pieces from my juice groove jig as the side runners. I just clamp a sheet of MDF to my workbench along with the jig runners, shim the board as needed and then away I go! . I chose to leave a small gap on either side of the router base plate to the inside of the plywood so there would be clearance for sawdust and I'm glad I did! I also am using a cheaper bit, but it will get me by for now. Just have to take thin passes. I've seen some jigs that look a little out of alignment that leave a pattern due to surface unevenness... None of that here! I also decided to use my trusty @dewalttough 2-1/4 HP DW618 with just the solid base than try to mess around with my 35 y/o Ryobi plunge router. Just finished this part for a client.. 1/2” aluminum. I laser cut the part from acrylic and taped it to the aluminum and used a flush trim bit to transfer the shape.
