PAINT WITH A PURPOSE
—-
Want to see brightness around the face with a halo of darkness in the crown area to create depth? That halo of depth in the back of the head can be created by the way you paint in a foil, and the way you gloss. Here’s my breakdown on how I paint with a purpose.
—-
➡️ LEFT: when I go up the sides of the head, I am taking diagonal back sections, and painting on a slant. The highest point of lightness is closest to the face/hairline.
➡️ MIDDLE: For the foils up top, in and around the crown of the head, I paint in a “v”, laying the foundation for the teardrop/halo/whatever you want to call it in the back of the head.
➡️ RIGHT: The finished product. The brightest part is around the face, with the darkest section in the crown area. Swipe for my formula.

Dark base, light ends, can’t lose
***PSA: her base looks darker in this photo because I used the vignette feature to drown out some of the stuff in the background and make the color pop. Swipe right to see the original photo

The latest installment of “over lightening kills dimension”
But for reals you guys, I don’t leave a ton of dark because I want to cut corners, spend less time foiling, want to rush to my next client or am lazy. I can and sometimes NEED to put in more foils. What I want to show is that all those pops DON’T EXIST unless there is some dark for them to pop against. And in many instances, it’s not necessary to put a zillion foils in.
