i’m starting to see myself more & more in the photos i create and it feels so good.
i mean, obviously i take photos of other people. i tell their stories. but with every gallery i deliver, i see a piece of my heart & soul in the photos and it makes me so happy when i get feedback from clients who love them just as much as i do.
so this is me. i’m telling capturing people’s moments the only way i know how... through feelings, connections, and the in-betweens. i firmly believe there is a photographer out there who will tell your story the way it’s meant to be told. photography isn’t one-size-fits-all. just as there are different personalities + colors, there’s a different ways of observing + capturing moments. and just like any relationship, i think it’s so important to find someone you truly connect with... because magic will happen.
Bloggers, influencers, content creators- whatever you want to call em— I get asked all the time how I started shooting them.
I wanted to write out 3 tips for reference so if you’re looking to shoot this type of content, here’s my best advice for PHOTOGRAPHERS who want to shoot BLOGGERS —-also let’s make this fun, if you’re a BLOGGER comment below what you look for in a PHOTOGRAPHER or how you find them.
1. It’s not YOU, it’s THEM: photographers, this type of photography is not an art project for you- it’s a job. As an artist you may have your favorite way to edit, favorite way to shoot...but when you are working with an influencer there is two creatives at play now, you and your client. Your job is to execute their vision (most of the time) so keep your ego at bay. My theory is a little dark, practical, and less whimsical when it comes to this but that being said, you will still naturally attract with your work and be able to use your creativity.
2. Be VISIBLE: when I first started photography I made sure I was VERY visible. My people are searching on Instagram so I hashtagged San Diego Photographer in every possible sense, lol. For example: #sdphoto #sdphotog #sdphotographer #sandiegophotographer #sandiegophoto #sdmodel and so on...
You can also tag your location at places that your ideal client is hanging out.
3. Study and Prove: Before you just start emailing and DMing influencers you’d like to shoot with, have some solid proof to show them that you can provide value to their work life. Study the content they post and use test shoots to create a portfolio you can start with. Visual proof is the best evidence and never shy away from sharing your ideas ✨

Sunday morning at home. Who else water the plants in the shower? ♀️ got a few items from @wildflowerdolly_ and love how they add a lil touch to my bathroom decor. Always a small business supporter over here #flashesofdelight .

Delivery day is way better when it’s ALSO your honeymoon! Mr. & Mrs. Cullimore are currently in Rome and it’s making me want to go back already!! Although, I fell asleep at 7pm last night then woke up at ripe 4:30am, so maybe my body says no. •
