Cultivating the Freedom of Joyful Energy Joyful energy is ours at any age. The freedom of being and expressing our real selves without fear of judgement is the joy and birthright our Creator gives us. Being your unique self, frees up all the life energy that can be trapped in conditioned thoughts and attitudes. I just taught myself this yoga pose a few months ago. This asana is called, Wild Thing or Camatkarasana! One poetic translation means “the ecstatic unfolding of the enraptured heart.” When I first saw this yoga posture, I was immediately inspired by the feeling of freedom and by the form of an open heart and a joyful, energetic body. That was all the incentive I needed to want to achieve Wild Thing. Inspiration is my best motivation! . LOVING AWARENESS Today: I started a new morning meditation group at @bayouyoga Meditation in group creates the most amazing connection and the 30 min felt like 5. I got a work out in and then taught my restorative lunch class and in the afternoon I headed over to the nursing home with Freya for our chair yoga class and lots of dog cuddles from ms lickcelot herself. Home by 4 pm to cook dinner. Boom - I realized that today was one of those days I got to do exactly what I love and enjoy. Easy breezy day with grateful heart. Yesterday: First kid on the bus forgot his lunchbox, second one missed his bus and had to run after it down the street. Third kid was left behind by me so I could make it to my workout. In the afternoon the carpool lane took longer than usual so Liam almost missed his doc appointment. Afterwards we went to the grocery store to get dinner items. Once back home I discovered Finley was not there... Boom - I realized I was suppose to pick him up after his club meeting at school an hour ago. I made it two minutes passed school closing. The after school teachers where very kind and understanding. I felt unsettled most of the evening and couldn’t believe I forgot my kid at school. We ate late and I fell asleep on the couch. This is the ebb and flow of life. In which we get many opportunities each and every day to practice what anchors us. We notice the storms that unsettle us and if we open up to being present in the midst of our own experience without judgment and instead with loving awareness we will always be anchored in that storm. It’s a daily practice and a daily return to the present. Over and over again. I’m realizing I should share more of my experiences with yoga on social media so people can see there are dimensions to yoga. It’s not just the physical asana practice .... Here’s a snippet of my yoga from today at a assisted living facility in Point Loma. Most of the residents are barely mobile and their verbal communication is very limited.. . Given the limited mobility range I bring my sound bowls to play for them and interact with. They love to touch the sides of the bowls after I strike them. They jump at the buzzing sensation on their fingers and then smile BIG . Something different. .. Eleanor is 1 month shy of 98 and has been to India 3 times. The tones of the bowls transport her mind back to India. In all the months I have been coming here she has never started reciting mantra.. until today! So sacred the healing sounds... makes my heart melt.
