This is not my normal post but I feel the need to share, breaks my heart seeing pictures like this ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ It is estimated that shark finning kills 100 million sharks per year ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ The use of longlines is how fishermen catch sharks longlines are set up as a lengthy line attached with bated hooks to create a branch like effect ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ . ⠀ Only the sharks fins are kept by cutting them off the body while the shark is still alive and tossed back into the ocean unable to swim ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ On a positive note the shark fin soup is slowly diminishing due to new anti-shark finning campaigns ⠀ @kokocuvier

As a Canadian I am happy to say that many of these sharks are in our Atlantic waters. Sadly though, the cute porbeagle is crazy endangered & needs support.
