We’re a family of 5 living in a 3 bedroom bungalow. (If you don’t count the guest room we built in the basement for company. Or as the girls lovingly refer to it, “Nanny & Papa’s room!”) ⁣ ⁣ And as the girls get older we’re struggling with how to configure the bedrooms once Reese no longer uses her crib. ⁣ ⁣ Bunk beds? Finley’s always had her own room, do we change that and have her bunk with Lennon? Reese insists on singing “tomorrow” as loudly as she can to fall asleep... which disrupts Lennon falling asleep. But surely that’s just a phase? ⁣ ⁣ How many children do you have versus bedrooms? How did you choose to arrange everyone? I just want to maximize sleeping hours okay? Help a Mama out!

When our house gets messy & cluttered, I get stressed, overwhelmed and cranky. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And everyone knows when that happens no one is happy! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But with less stuff, there tends to be less mess. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Not no mess because we still live here after all! But the messes are a lot less overwhelming to clean up. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This helps me feel calmer, happier and like I’m not fighting a losing battle to keep the house relatively tidy! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And a happier, calmer, less stressed mom can help lead to happier, calmer, less stressed kids too! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is just one of the ways simplifying and minimalism can benefit kids. One of my favourite things about our master bedroom is the sliding glass doors. ⁣ ⁣ They let in so much natural light and make me feel like the outdoors is a part of our bedroom. ⁣ ⁣ It does mean that when we have people over they access the back deck by going through our bedroom, but that doesn’t bother us. ⁣ ⁣ We’re having a super slow Friday, soaking up the last few days of our summer vacation.
