The desire to travel may be genetic, and it can possibly be traced to what has been dubbed "the wanderlust gene." Associated with increased levels of curiosity and restlessness, the gene is associated with dopamine levels in the brain.

A temple on a mountain in the clouds @matt.and.the.world ⛰☁️

After taking the scooter 2 hours east of Ubud, we got lost in the mountains and ended up in a tiny, remote area of just locals. This is where we got in the scooter accident and as soon as it happened, we were immediately surrounded by over 15 locals helping us. We came for the temple so we continued on, eventually finding our way and making it here
We can’t always choose the music life plays for us, but we can choose how we dance to it. I keep on spinning, even if I dance like I have two left feet. ♀️
Salsa lesson #1:
“Focus on your steps, don’t move your body.”
“Let the man take the lead, just follow.”
On a side note, I’m shocked and proud that I haven’t stepped on anyone’s toes yet.
AND on that note, it’s #thirstythuraday, can somebody try Salsa with me? ♀️
like the tacky tourist dad i am at heart, my phone is cluttered with literally thousands of photos from my trip this past week. it took me five minutes of scrolling to find the picture i wanted to post today, and i’ve been too lazy to dig them out the past few days how many photos do you have on your phone right now? my 1.5 year old phone is up to a spicy 16,000 even after a major decluttering, yikes
No filters. No edits. Just a paradise that isn’t so far away. Too many times people tell me how they dream of traveling, but it’s always talked about like it’s in some distant, far away future. Don’t put off the things you can do right now. Even if it’s just once a year, traveling opens your eyes to so much. The experience alone is worth every dime you spend. And don’t believe what you see about traveling being so expensive. I’ve flown from Texas to Bali for under $500 round trip. I’ll be in New Zealand in a month or so for $700 round trip. The flight for this amazing trip to Turks and Caicos was in the $400s round trip. I’ve seen the most amazing beaches and turquoise waters and been to places I never thought I’d see and it’s all completely doable. Cut out the expenses you don’t need. Don’t be dependent on material things that you’ve always had just for the sake of having them. And most of all don’t be dependent on others or listen when they say you can’t. They’re not telling you these things to hold you down, they just don’t know how much drive you have. Go and do and find out for yourself. Fail along the way. Who cares? You get one go at this, so go down swinging, right? I’ve seen more than I ever thought was possible and it all started when I quit putting other people’s limits on myself. It’s the only way to live.
