At the end of 2018, we launched a contest asking YOU to design a logo branding our chapter identity. Logo submissions were asked to reflect art therapy, dance/movement therapy, music therapy, drama therapy, expressive arts therapy and play therapy professions. We are pleased to congratulate Rowena Tam - the winning recipient of our CACP Logo Design Contest shown here. The image includes half a maple leaf with a variety of images representing the creative arts within it. In the upcoming months, we will be shortly announcing three awards that the CACP will be offering to members. We are also looking for new members for our #SpotlightMember project! Each month we look to highlight a CCPA member employing the creative arts therapies within their practice to share a headshot and biography that can help connect and inspire members across the nation. If you know someone, or would like to nominate yourself for the Spotlight Member, please feel free to email us at cac.chapter@gmail.com. Looking forward to starting 2019 with exciting new initiatives! #CACP #CreativeArtsinCounsellingandPsychotherapyChapter #CCPA

The community has spoken! Congrats to our Spring Member of the Quarter - Brendan Kays! A well deserved nomination! . @btkays is fairly new to our CFB community, but has taken the sport by storm. He spent his first few months of crossfit doing strict pull-ups, C2Bs, and handstand push-ups because the kip wasn't there yet...STRICT! Not too long after he picked up the skill portion of the movements and took off. He's smooth in his gymnastics, strong and confident under a barbell, and always focuses on the fundamentals so he can refine his movement. . Brendan is a joy to coach. He is eager to listen to movement fixes and always adjusts accordingly. He's competitive, but does so with humility and patience. He's consistent in the gym, and is always working on the little things. He took the last 3 months to focus on and be disciplined with his nutrition and saw substantial changes in his physique and performance in the gym (funny how that works ). Brendan, the gym agrees that member of the quarter is WELL deserved! Keep up the hustle! . Here are a few things that your CFB family members had to say! . "He went from 0 to 60" REAL quick! Brendan has a super positive attitude and is always smiling!" . "What a stellar athlete! He is always striving to improve!" . "He's shown great, consistent improvements since the beginning, couldn't think of anyone more deserving" . "I want to be like Brendan when I grow up! For real, he came in with a strong foundation but didn't settle, it's the athletes that recognize their gifts and with discipline, pour into them that go a long way! And he will." . "He makes everything look easy, and it's because he works so hard all the time! He's an inspiration." . "I'm sure a lot of athletes improving at the rate he is would be prideful, he is not. He's everything you want to see in an athlete at your gym, definitely a role model" . Thanks for being you Brendan, keep hustling and working hard. Congrats on being nominated as our Spring Member of the Quarter, and thanks to all of those who took the time to vote!

This week’s #spotlightmember is Akshaya Uthayakumar~ a third year BME! Fun fact...Akshaya can speak four different languages: English, Tamil, Telegu, and French! She joined HealthReach because from spearheading the Community Based Instruction program —an initiative to help the special needs students where she created similar activities— to educating children in rural India of problem solving methods for math and science, her personal passion of propagating education has transformed her to become an advocate for creative education. Akshaya’s favorite thing about HealthReach is when going to Woodland Elementary or Cobb County Foster Care, the children know her name and give her the best hugs! She says “the children become good friends and look up to you a lot which is amazing.” Beyond volunteering, Akshaya’s main role is as a senior mentor for the new members. She helps them create activities and gain a better understanding of the purpose behind them! #togetherweSTEM

It's the month of July and we're ecstatic to share with you our #SpotlightMember Juliette Anglehart Zedd, My name is Juliette Anglehart Zedda, I was born in Quebec city, studied at Trent University because I was interested in the Asian Program which allowed me to study Eastern philosophy and Sumi-e in Osaka. After obtaining the degree, I relocated to the Yukon territory, I was afraid of moving here 20 years ago because there was no internet at the time or consistent flights and phone calls were very expensive. The Yukon has given me everything and I like to say that we all find gold in the north. I have to admit that I escape winters to go to our Nicaragua home every year. At some point I realized that I did not need so many supplements, and alternative health care, I just needed to find myself bare feet in a culture that inspires me profoundly. I am pleased to share with you my latest interests. I have been practicing psychosomatic therapies (Rolfing, CranioSacral, Ashtanga Yoga) for about 15 years and finished a master degree when I was already a mother of three kids. It was very difficult and I do not recommend it to anyone but I have to say that I am very thankful for all the doors it has opened for me. That degree also came with more needs and desires! I knew that I wanted to approach my sessions with expressive arts and Hakomi (a body-centred psychotherapy approach that has been the foundation of my work for a decade). I took on a diploma at the Vancouver School of Expressive Arts. I tell people that it was the best scenario for a “mid-life crisis”. It allowed me to explore consciousness, perceptions and senses with a wonderful group of people with vast horizons. I am now looking at attending the post-graduate degree at the European Graduate School in Switzerland next summer. I have been working in private practice with Employee Family Assistant Program with the territorial and federal government, and Great West Life and at the treatment program at Mental Wellness and Substance Use for the Yukon government. I love it! Life is very full and very rich. I am so thankful to be touched every day by all the people who surround me.

Her favorite part of HealthReach is working with the kids @armhc ☺️ Sara Ivey says they are always so excited to do our STEM activities and it always makes her week better! She loves when kids return the next week ready to learn more because she’s able to see the impact that was made on them! #togetherweSTEM
