Matt Evans’ outpour of acting projects continues even in the indie scene with his first Cinemalaya entry I America. The Greatest Love star plays the role of Boyet, one of Bela Padilla’s best friends on the Ivan Payawal dramedy. Since it was his first Cinemalaya entry, Matt admits that he got nervous and excited before he went on the set. But, all his anxiety dissipated all thanks to his director who happens to be the same man behind the helming of his Cinema One Originals film The Comeback. “Direk Ivan told me na may ginagawa siyang story about Filipino Americans in Olongapo. Since I'm half Filipino, half American, he told me na agad na i-cast nya ako dun, and of course I said yes. Then I found out na Cinemalaya entry pa. Parang dream come true. I've always wanted to be a part of Cinemalaya,” he said. According to Matt, his first Cinemalaya entry has allowed him to discover how a movie is created. “Unlike sa mainstream na package na agad.
