Op Achilles is a concept now fully embedded at AFC and is aimed at bridging the gap between Junior Soldiers and Standard Adult Entry.
The programme was overhauled to try and confirm the best approach for an adolescent potential Paratrooper’s physical development to give them the best platform for success. This was achieved by using a science led approach and individualising training, with the emphasis on getting stronger.

The aim was simple... Make the potential paratroopers stronger in order to have a better chance at passing Para Reg depo.

Op Achilles 1 saw the pass rate double and that pass rate has recently risen again. Of those that survived and made it to P Company have seen an average of 88.5% pass rate.
It’s not over yet though, enjoy the mole.

4 Tips for warm weather training.

Military training involves a lot of outdoor workouts which means you'll have to learn how to contend with the elements.
Training in the heat can take a lot out of you, so make sure you are prepared for it and take steps to make sure your training is as safe as possible.

Here's my four tips for warm weather training.

1. Start early – Even in the warmest places, the temperature is lowest just before the sun comes up. Get out and start your workout early. The later you leave it, the hotter you are going to get.

2. Hydrate before you start – while it is important to hydrate during your workout, you’ll experience less dehydration if you drink plenty of water in the hours leading up to your workout.

3. Soak your workout clothes in cold water – if it’s really hot, try soaking your workout clothes in a bucket of cold water. Wring them out, put them on, and enjoy the cooling effect of damp clothing.

4. Don’t forget the electrolytes – electrolytes are minerals that you lose when you sweat. Low levels of electrolytes can affect your heart and cause muscle cramps. Consume sports drinks to replace lost electrolytes and avoid many of the problems associated with warm weather training.
