Talking Heads Remain In Light 1980. #13 on my favorites list. Talking Heads remains my favorite New Wave band. You bet I like 77, Fear Of Music and Speaking In Tongues, really I like the whole Talking Heads and David Byrne discography. But Remain In Light was the big change from Punk Avant-Garde to New Wave front runners with this afrobeat masterpiece. The main song The Great Curve leads the way. Brian Eno's production features post-punk, worldbeat and dance rock. It also featured the band as a whole more than jus Byrne's lyrics out front. Once In A Lifetime is one of my favorite all time songs. Really there's more optimism in the lyrics than ever before. Born Under Punches, Crosseyed and Painless and Houses In Motion all fantastic songs. A lot of great albums came out in 1980. Most ranked this 3rd behind London Calling and The River, but actually Christgau put it ahead of The River. Ranked #128 on RS Top 500. Way to low. Put it on today and try not dancing to Tina Weymouth's bass, Chris Frantz's drums and Jerry Harrison's guitar. I wish they'd do another Tom Tom Club album. Turns out I suck at Adobe photoshop.
