Many of us with big goals and dreams are operating under a false pretense: the idea that This is all a performance, that you will need to first land the role, learn your lines, have your costume, hair and makeup all perfect and ready, then you will step out on to the stage and show the world your magic.

In reality — especially in today’s world — you are the only who who can cast yourself in the role to begin with and you don’t need a script at all. The hair? Makeup? Costume? That has to be done on stage, as your audience is trickling in to find their seats.

Embrace this. It means we are all invited. It means we are getting closer and closer to truth and acceptance.

Look, I know you’re doing all this work on yourself & personal development, but my friend, you are a Yogi not a doormat.
When you feel pushed around and jostled you have zero obligation to just stand there and smile. Certainly it’s always an option to rise above or simply ignore it. You have other options too. You can stand up for yourself. You can offer a firm and authoritative NO (with a smile, if you like).

Having a meditation practice & “going with the flow” is not meant to be interpreted as allowing people to drag you along like a wild river.
Stand up for yourself.
Say NO. And then pay very close attention to those who refuse to respect your boundaries.

I always thought that yoga would change me or make me a different and better person... but what I later understood was, that yoga is the vehicle into meeting my true self.⠀

Our true self or our authentic reaction, isn’t always nice or happy, and that is ok too... what matters, is to learn how to be authentic with whatever is really going on. Owning it and showing it! Yoga helps me get in contact with those emotions.⠀

Denying our emotions is such a ‘killer’ of the soul, it makes us numb. We owe it to our selves to allow for our real emotions to come out so that we can be honest with ourselves and our surroundings. We can become exhausted being around people whom don’t really know what they want or if they agree with us or not. Let’s not be that ourselves. ⠀

It’s such an easy trap to think that yoga makes us peaceful all the time. Don’t buy into that. Yoga and breath work is the vehicle that leads us back into our true emotions (showing us with clarity what is really going on inside) and then it’s up to us if we are ready to stand by those emotions by showing how we truly feel or what we truly think in any given situation. ⠀

There is no need to be overwhelmed by life, take a deep breath and know, that you are not being given more than you can handle. Never. If you feel like the world is coming tumbling down, then take a break, step back from the scene, reassess and breathe deeply into your belly. Remember, no matter what, you are going to be alright. Call a friend or sit in silence and ONLY step back in, when you are good and ready.⠀

We do no good, when we are acting in the middle of overwhelm, no productive decisions will come of that, and we might even end up lashing out at the wrong people. Take a few moments (or longer) to gather your thoughts, so that you can deal with whatever is in front of you, with a clear and present mind. Your surroundings will be inspired by you, if you give yourself that space to breathe and recollect your thoughts.⠀
This short pranayama meditation is great for bringing a deep relaxation and relief from anxiety and stress. Do this meditation when you feel anxious, when you have a crisis or when you don’t know what to do and it will stabilize you.
