Are you using a cosmetic anti-ageing cream during the day? Ensure you check the ingredients! Most anti ageing creams you buy over the counter/online (I.e not from a professional) contain some form of Vitamin A, usually it is a very low concentration such as Retinyl Palmitate. We actually had a look at some of the leading cosmetic companies ingredients of their ‘anti wrinkle’ day cream and they all contained some form of a retinoid. No where on any of the directions or instructions did it mention to only use at night. In fact some of these creams were being marketed as day creams! Studies have shown Vitamin A increases ones risk of melanoma by speeding the growth of cancerous tumours and lesions when used on sunlight exposed skin. This is why professionals will always advise their clients to only use their Vitamin A based products at night. When buying off a shelf or online you generally don’t get this advice. Make sure to check your SPF too as some cosmetic companies market their chemical SPFs as ‘anti ageing’ and include Vitamin A/Retinoids in them! . . . . .
