I love quiet afternoons spent sitting in her room with a good book. We recently changed her little nook and got this @hippococointl teepee. Not only does it make for a cute reading area, but it’s also perfect for playtime. She loves going behind the teepee and peeking through the window, or having all kinds of imaginative adventures with her little friends!

Our last activity for the April Play Challenge
Today’s topic is insects!
When I read that insects are today’s topic I instantly thought of my dad. He used to take us kids (I have two brothers and two sisters) fishing.
But before we went on a fishing trip we went on a worm hunt the night before. Now, since I don’t need any worms I decided to make my own set up.
I used chocolate powder and flour for the “dirt!” And spaghetti for the worms.
I introduced the activity to Charlotte and she happily found some worms until she told me she was done 2 minutes later. ♀️
When Penelope discovered the set up she was very excited! She played with it for 15 minutes. She didn’t want to use the tweezers though. I gave her a cooking spoon instead.
Thank you for having us @chestnut_simple_play this month! It was a blast!
Yesterday it rained in Sia's jungle and a big muddy puddle was created due to it. The animals who came to drink water and have a bath, saw the big muddy puddles and couldn't wait to jump in them. .
Sia is generally not a huge fan of messy activities, but she loved this one. .
So sia here, helped them and did the honours. She also gave them a nice clean bath and eventually ended up mixing the clean and muddy waters. .
Oh what a mess it was! But oh, the fun she had
.
I just mixed 1/2 cup of cocoa powder and corn flour and 2 cups of water. The consistency was slightly thicker than water and easy to clean off. .

Isn’t it amazing how HAPPY kids are when they are outdoors? I took my 2.5 year old son and 6 month old daughter on a hike today and they both had so much fun!
My son was enthralled by the bubbling stream and mini-waterfalls. He did NOT want to leave the stream! He loved walking close to the edge, searching for bugs, collecting sticks, listening to the water, watching the birds and squirrels, and running along the trails.
My daughter was a fan of the animals at the nearby farm and napping while bumping along in the stroller. When she got hungry it was so peaceful nursing her out in nature.
It was a great reminder that the best days can be the simplest days. Kids love and appreciate nature in a way that many adults have seemed to forget. As spring is getting into full-bloom I hope to enjoy these not-too-hot-yet days and appreciate the small things, with my small people.
Loving this warm weather with my guys. Arizona is THE BEST place to live.
We are such proud desert dwellers.☀️

Happy Earth Day!
Today, I took the kids to Home Depot and we bought lots of flowers, as well as seeds for growing our own vegetables. Ben loved visiting the outdoor nursery!
We only had time to plant one flower today, so we have much more to accomplish tomorrow. Nonetheless, it was really neat to see how much my son loved gardening. He listened to my explanations and instructions so carefully. Then, followed them to a tee. For a kid who has trouble just getting dressed, this was truly a sight to behold! I guess that’s the power of nature!
We are excited to continue our gardening adventures tomorrow. What’s one way you celebrated the earth today?
