After spending a whirlwind weekend in Virginia with fellow #bluestarwicca people for a Dedication Rite, my body decided that even though it was sore and achy it was not tired. The Witches' Creed . Wow! 500 posts! Thank you so much for sticking with me! Can't believe this platform has grown so incredibly over the last year and a half! I couldn't have done it without you! . I thought I would do a mini series over the next couple of days using The Witches' Creed by Doreen Valiente (This is part 1), which is my favourite piece of our modern history from one of my favourite inspirations. A powerful, badass woman and witch, the mother of modern witchcraft. This is from her book "Witchcraft For Tomorrow" first published in 1978. . This piece of writing always inspires my craft. You might also recognise it if you're a fan of Charmed as a small adaptation of this was used in the spell to call their powers. Bit of trivia for you! . Every time I read this I get emotional, it evokes such intense emotion and memory for me. It is with me in my best times and my darkest. This is part of the book entitled the Liber Umbarum (book of shadows in Latin!) Which is an excellent read and foundation that would serve you well in any stage of your craft! Doreen Valiente helped to found the religion of Wicca, and although I wouldn't ascribe to being Wiccan, I do draw a great deal from traditional Wicca, especially Valiente's words. . Workshop on inclusive Wicca in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada This will be an afternoon intensive workshop exploring how we can make Wiccan ritual more inclusive for people of all genders, sexualities, and physical conditions. We will discuss what aspects of Wicca can be Excluding for LGBTQ+ people, the evolving nature of tradition, and what adaptations many Wiccans have already made to make ritual more inclusive. We will also explore different ways of making magical energy, using polarity, resonance, and synergy. Yvonne has been a Pagan since 1985 and a Wiccan since 1991. She has an MA in Contemporary Religions and Spiritualities from Bath Spa University (UK), and has recently moved to Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. She has written four books on the mythology and folklore of trees, birds, and animals, and two anthologies of poetry. The Witches' Creed (Part Two!) . Trying to do these words justice with the energies of the photo is very difficult indeed! This is most likely my favourite verse. It speaks of that beautiful feeling you get within that sacred space. When you're sat in a cast circle and time feels like it stops. The energy is both still and electric and I could quite honestly live in that feeling. . "The world has no right then to know it, and the world beyond will tell naught.
