Thought I’d answer candidly WHY I or the collective WE decided on CUBA 1. Zimbabwe remains Cuba’s strongest ally in Africa and no amount of sanctions will separate the two countries.
2. This relationship started when Cuba supported Zimbabwe and many other African countries gain independence from the colonizer.
3. Zimbabwe is, without doubt, Cuba’s closest friend in Africa. For context, the two countries relationship can be compared to that of the USA and Israel.
4. Cuba’s largest export to the world is probably its human capital. Zimbabwe has over 3,000 Cuban Medical doctors, specialists’ surgeons and science teachers in Bulawayo, Chinhoyi, Harare, Masvingo & Mutare.
5. On arrival there I noticed that despite over 4 decades, of what I believe to be even harsher sanctions than Zimbabwe (because Cuba actually matters to the U.S. & poses a real geopolitical threat to it as opposed the lack of “human rights” excuse often peddled to disguise neo-colonialism), Cuba is surprisingly more functional. No electricity or water cuts when I was there. Extremely clean cities; no littering; city workers are up early sweeping streets; public transport runs on schedule (I caught a bus into central Havana for 50 cents local) and there’s very little crime, I felt very safe everywhere including in the poorest neighborhoods.
P.S. I’m not suggesting there are no human rights violations in either Cuba or Zimbabwe. However, stay WOKE! Sanctions are used to influence politics and are far from altruistic. Besides, one would think western countries would focus on human rights violations in their own backyard like the continued senseless killings of black people by law enforcement in and women are still treated like a commodity, immigrant children seeking asylum are being abused and dying in US detention centers. I could go on…

Self-love is how you take your power back. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So CROWN YOURSELF and wear it with pride. Validate your worth, ideas, creativity, potential, and past achievements. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The universe works in this crazy way where it confirms that which we truly believe. Never allow a subconscious false truth to stifle those genius gifts you uniquely carry. Your passion + purpose is far too great for that.

For years Quito has always been high on my list because I've always wanted to stand in the center of the world. I'm loving Quito and surprised it isn't high most travelers radar.
When I say Ecuador is cheap believe me. I only paid $79 roundtrip from Guayaquil to Quito which was a 50-minute flight.
However, when visiting Quito be aware of the high altitude. Yesterday I cut my day short because of being light head with a bad headache. That's the disadvantage of having a small head. You folks with big heads are lucky at times .
I met a photographer & gave him $20 to use his drone so I could try to capture the beautiful landscape around the monument. Quito is definitely in my top 3 favorite cities in South America.
Few things to know about Quito.
1. It has an altitude around 9,000 ft.
Interesting the elevation is too for the transmission of malaria.
The symptoms of altitude sickness may include nausea, dizziness, headaches, loss of appetite, & insomnia.
2. The official name of the city is San Francisco de Quito.
3.The dry season (June-Sept) is considered winter. At this time of year it’s generally drier and cooler than the wet season.
The wet season (Oct-May) is slightly warmer with more rainfall.
4. Quito is 15 miles south of the equator.
These sun rays hit a little different near the equator.
And far as my shirt, I feel I'm part of the movement of black men breaking the stereotypes that we don't travel or only travel through the military. Oh my favorite one, men from the South are slow and don't get passports
Do you find these stereotype slowly fading away or do think there's some truth to it? The only thing I would say is we don't "always" see a group of brothers traveling in groups like we see women.
