The Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus is in the city of Epidaurus, Greece dedicated to the ancient Greek God of medicine, Asclepius who was believed to possess healing powers that he learned from his father, Apollo. The area attracted people from all over Greece who came to be treated by the resident priests. And with time, and as the center developed, prosperity increased, which the priests used to build an impressive complex of facilities, including temples, baths, athletic venues, and the theater.
.
It is considered to be the most perfect ancient Greek theatre with regard to acoustics and aesthetics
.
The ancient theatre was constructed at the end of the 4th century BC by the architect Polykleitos the Younger. Pausanias praises the theatre for its symmetry and beauty. At a maximum capacity of 13,000 to 14,000 spectators, the theatre hosted music, singing and dramatic games that were included in the worship of Asclepius. It was also used as a means to heal patients, since there was a belief that the observation of dramatic shows had positive effects on mental and physical health
.
The acoustics in the theater are incredible; indeed, spectators in the back rows have been known to hear people on stage without any amplification. The 55 rows of steps act as ‘acoustic traps,’ filtering any background noise while creating a phenomenon called ‘virtual pitch’ which allows for a higher clarity of sound, making it easier for spectators to hear what’s happening on stage.

The Lotus Temple, located in Delhi, India is a Bahá'í House of Worship that was dedicated in December 1986. Notable for its flower like shape, it has become a prominent attraction in the city. Like all Bahá'í Houses of Worship, the Lotus Temple is open to all, regardless of religion or any other qualification
.
Inspired by the lotus flower, the design for the House of Worship in New Delhi is composed of 27 free-standing marble-clad 'petals' arranged in clusters of three to form nine sides. The nine doors of the Lotus Temple open onto a central hall slightly more than 40 meters tall that can seat 1,300 people and hold up to 2,500 in all. The surface of the House of Worship is made of white marble from Penteli mountain in Greece, the same marble used in the construction of many ancient monuments (including the Parthenon)
.
The architect was Iranian born, @fariborzsahba who also designed the The Terraces of the Shrine of the Báb in Israel and has received many international awards, among them the First Honor Award in 1987 for 'Excellence in Architecture'. He now lives in La Jolla, California

Located on the island of Java in Indonesia the magnificent Borobudur temple is the world’s largest Buddhist temple, one of the great archaeological sites of Southeast Asia and an ancient site widely considered to be one of the world’s seven wonders. The temple sits majestically on a hilltop overlooking lush green fields and distant hills. Built in the 9th century during the reign of the Syailendra dynasty, the temple’s design in Gupta architecture reflects India's influence on the region, yet there are enough indigenous scenes and elements incorporated to make Borobudur uniquely Indonesian
.
Borobudur covers an enormous area, measuring 123 x 123 meters. The monument is a marvel of design, decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. The architecture and stonework of this temple has no equal. Around the circular platforms are 72 openwork stupas, each containing a statue of the Buddha and it was all built without using any kind of cement or mortar like a set of massive interlocking Lego blocks
.
It was rediscovered in 1815, buried under volcanic ash. In the 1970’s the Indonesian Government and UNESCO worked together to restore Borobudur to its former majesty The restoration took eight years to complete. After the renovation was finished, UNESCO listed Borobudur as a World Heritage Site in 1991 and today Borobudur is one of Indonesia and the world’s most valuable treasures.

A few kilometers outside of Sigtuna in Sweden you will find the well preserved crofter village 'Viby by'. The village has existed here since 1160 and a Cistercian monastery was established nearby, both are mentioned in Sweden's oldest original manuscript. The famous 'Vibiy Letter' written in Latin is from about 1167 and the original is kept at the National Archives in Stockholm. The letter was written by King Knut, yes that famous story about King Canute and the tide is the same guy. After the monastery moved Viby by came under the rule of the the crown
.
During the 19th century it was populated by tenant crofters. Here, generations of tenant farmers struggled for survival under difficult conditions for several hundred of years. Today, the village looks almost as it did, 200 years ago
.
The village farms, mostly from the 1900s, illustrate the way of life before the great reforms. Each farm has several buildings for different functions, typical of the old peasant society
.
Several Swedish films have been shot here, including “Ride of the Night” and “Glass Blowing’s children”
.
Viby village is worth visiting and is suitable for picnics. Everyone has access and you can walk around freely without charge, but just remember to respect the nature

The Sándor Palace 'Sándor-palota' is located in Budapest, Hungary It is the official residence of the President of Hungary, and the seat of the Office of the President. It has served as both since 2003
.
The palace is situated on the Buda side, immediately north of the Buda Castle complex, which was the former residence of the kings and governors of Hungary
.
The southwest façade of the palace, which faces the square, features a pair of light green doors with the inscription 'Köztársasági Elnöki Hivatal' or 'President of the Republic's Office' immediately above. On the iron balustrade above the inscription, is the modern coat of arms of Hungary, flanked by the Hungarian and European Union flags
.
The sentries guarding southwest palace door are there obviously as my security attaché due to the many tourists hanging around! ❤

Today in Sigtuna, Sweden I happened upon a giant marshmallow farm! I never knew they could grow so big. This farm specializes in strawberry and lemon flavor marshmallows!
.
They are infact the kind that dairy cows eat. Harvesting high quality hay for dairy cattle is a complicated process. It requires timing, skill, hard work and a lot of luck. Dairy cows need high protein hay to produce milk. That means that hay needs to be cut young and harvested without any rain and at the perfect moisture level. Waiting for it to dry naturally in the sun isn’t always an option. Besides, dry hay can often lose precious protein when its leaves are shattered off during the process
.
This is why they create giant marshmallows! Each bale is wrapped in plastic. The plastic seals the bale and prevents any air from getting in. This seal prevents spoilage and begins a fermentation process to preserve the bale for future use. An added benefit is being able to keep the bales outside to save on expensive indoor storage. To be honest, the cows love it. It’s like cow candy! Obviously, the plastic is cut off the bale before the cow eats the hay
.
Do you like marshmallows?

Sunrise outside the hill station town of Vagamon, Kerala in southwestern India
.
Located 1100 meters above sea, far way from the loud city culture, with lush greenery and serenity to gift every visitor, Vagamon is far away from maddening tourist crowds.
.
Vagamon was used by the British for tea plantations, the grass covered hills, velvet lawns and the cool mountain air nowadays make Vagamon a perfect nature retreat. A curious blend of religious mysticism and European legacies of this hillside village is a haven of equanimity. The chain of three hills - Thangal Hill, Murugan Hill and Kurisumala - is a mark of religious harmony.

Matthias Church is a Roman Catholic church located in Budapest, Hungary in front of the Fisherman's Bastion at the heart of Buda's Castle District. The current building was constructed in the late Gothic style with delicate turrets and colored tile roofs in the second half of the 14th century. In 1526 the Turks occupied Buda, ruined most of the churches, but left Matthias Church erected and turned it into a mosque. Artifacts were taken away, ornate furnishings were destroyed, altars and paintings were covered with whitewashed brick walls, not much survived the Ottoman years by the end of the siege of Buda in 1686. After the Turkish era, a new church was constructed on the remains in Baroque style, it was also extensively restored in the late 19th century. Around the church terraces, parapets and stairways offer an exceptional view of the Pest side and the river Danube and are bustling with tourists all day.
