You want to scream in a car blasting with music
because the lyrics are too overwhelming
to sing along to,
you want to hit and run the wild greens
in your neighbour's garden for
all the nights they didn't let you sleep,
you pass by your ex friends' house to throw away
the trash they left back at your place
from sleep overs you have had together,
you ignore the park, the school,
the mall, the 24×7 ice cream parlour, the pizza shop,
the bar you entered with fake ids,
you ignore everyone around on your way
to the cliff in the middle of the night,
nothing is silent as it is supposed to be.
2 am and nobody is sleeping.
Roads are still busy.
Shops are still lit and selling.
People are walking on the side of the road with earplugs on as though its the weekend, but it is not.
It’s tuesday.
Monday blues have already rolled out.
You step out of your car, walk over to the edge of the cliff, with feet dangling.
The moon is bored of watching your face everynight until the sun takes over.
You sit and think nothing, do nothing
and time flies. Just like that.
Life is crazy these days and it has been
driving you crazier, and messier,
not because the mud and grass is sticking
to your clothes but because you didn't scream,
hit and run, get rid of the trash,
nor were you able to ignore anything or anybody
whilst the memories flashed in your head.
So you get up, dust your clothes,
rub the redness of eyes away
and drive back to your place.
4 am and everything is still the same.
The sun is up, time's up.
You must start your day even though
you don't want.
