La #terracota es un material muy poroso! Muchas veces nos pasa que lo pintamos y con el tiempo la humedad interna atraviesa las paredes y nos levanta la pintura exterior (y la misma se descascara independientemente de la pintura o protección que hayamos usado) Acá va un #tip clave para evitar ese garrón 1. En primer lugar las impermeabilizamos por dentro. Nosotras usamos LeakSeal de @rustoleumla, un sellador en aerosol de caucho flexible que genera un revestimiento que evita que penetre la humedad, el óxido y la corrosión. Se aplica re fácil en el interior de la maceta y se deja secar al menos 24 hs 2. Luego por fuera las pintamos con pintura a la tiza #Chalked. Usamos el rosa pálido que entonamos un poquito llevándolo a un rosa durazno (pueden ver en stories destacadas cuando formamos el color para pintar la pared con esta pintura ) 3. Las protegimos con Barniz Marino al agua #Varathane que no altera el color, es de rápido secado y no se pone amarillo con el tiempo Usamos el de brillo satinado y aplicamos 3 manos dejando secar 3 hs entre cada una. De esta manera las #macetas quedaron pipí cucú aptas incluso para exterior Ustedes también pueden pintarlas con los colores y motivos que deseen! It’s WIP Wednesday!!! I’ve been having a lot of fun playing with new @sculpey_polyform products!! To make this octopus I brushed mica powders into a Wilton mold, poured liquid peacock pearl clay in, cured, and released. The liquid clay is very flexible once baked, so I was easily able to glue it to a little light bulb bottle I had. Here is my #igbc6final submission. I had to start a week late, so am THRILLED I managed to complete the challenge on time even if it WAS the last possible day! While my completed build is a major modification from the original desk plans by @diyhuntress , i took the frame design and shrunk it down and put the set of three drawers on the top. The frame is constructed from 1”x 1” steel and was my very first welding project ever! It’s far from perfect, but I am so happy I pushed myself to try something new! The cabinets look identical, but both serve a different purpose. My husbands cabinet has a single drawer on the top and faux drawer fronts on the bottom which swings open to store his cpap machine. For my cabinet,the bottom two “drawers” are actually one large drawer and the single top drawer is a pull-out breakfast tray for a lazy weekend breakfast in bed (a girl can dream, right?) or a table for my computer when I want to tuck myself in for the evening to watch a movie. Those mosaic tops? I actually built them twice. The first pair I had used cedar lath and unfortunately the stain didn’t look the way I wanted...at ALL. SO, like any sane person would do 4 days before the deadline, I recut it all using 1/4” pine plywood. A LOT of work, but so worth it in the end! I framed the panels with 1x2 knotty pine with enough space to inset 1/4” plate glass for a smooth top. Using a simple jig I created and my table saw, I added a spline with some walnut I reclaimed from a pallet board to each corner for added strength and an extra little detail. Something I’ve never attempted before either but I’m happy with how it turned out! While I wish I had been able to take pictures in natural light, the sun wasn't waiting for me to finish my build so the last few pictures are a little darker than I'd like.
