Power Base Converter - Sega Genesis . This wonderful piece of gaming technology allows one to play Master System games (carts and cards!) on a standard Genesis. It was given to me by a family friend when I was quite young, long before I even owned a single Master System game. Actually, it was before I had ever even _heard_ of the Master System (I was an NES kid!). It fits perfectly on a model 1 Genesis and works like a charm for playing MS games on a GEN. The Legend of Zelda & The Super Mario Bros. - Board games by Milton Bradley . So, this is something of a bittersweet post. Some years back I picked up these complete copies of some vintage Nintendo board games. They were a jewel in my collection (still are). Recently discovered that I had a tiny leak in a pipe deep in the house, and it was leaking directly through a ceiling onto these two games. You can see the water damage on the boxes. The games are still playable, but the boxes and instructions are super damaged. I don't suppose anyone out there has some incomplete copies, or even just the boxes for these games..? Wishful thinking, I know. . Have any of you played these games? They're both surprisingly deep for video game board games, especially Zelda, and they're both genuinely fun to play. Hopefully one day i'll be able to show off clean copies of these again. And who the hell says a controller can't have that many buttons And yes, I'm all about the overlays, even if they typically get lost immediately. This thing has been my baby since I brought it home from KB Toys for $30 (price tag is still partially attached!), way back when these were being phased out. I was able to get the system, 6 new CIB games, an extra controller end a multitap for under $60... yes, it was a good time to be alive. Super Mario Bros. 2 - NES . You may be wondering why I'm posting four copies of SMB2.. I've actually never hunted down a copy of this game. One is mine from childhood, and the others were found in the wild. However I decided to keep these doubles because, when examined side-by-side (by side by side), they're all noticeably different. The longer I look at them, the more differences I spot. I unfortunately can't provide much information as to why so many variations exist (and I wouldn't doubt if there were more!), but here they are. How many differences can you spot . Aside from the sticker, the top two ARE different! Look at the trademark/registered logo on the top right on the backs! . for a back of the box shot!

Yay it's finally here!! The Retron 77, the new console by Hyperkin that plays all the old Atari 2600 games in 720p HD. It even has memory card support so you can play ROMs! I'm soo excited to play through my entire Atari collection again in wonderful HiDef. I ordered this back in October from frys.com but it was backordered until this weekend, and now it's here!! Today I'm showcasing my personal favorite Mario game of all time - Hotel Mario, for the Philips CD-i, one of the best systems ever made. . Ok, so truthfully the CD-i is awful, a system not even worth tracking down. And this Mario game, while one of the better ones for the system (that's not saying much), is by far the worst appearance of our plumber friend. It's not even 'so bad, it's good', but 'so bad it's laughable'. Its a strange sort of puzzle game, not unlike Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle for the NES/GB, but much much worse. You have to close all the doors on a multilevel hotel facade, while rogue Goombas are continually trying to open them again. If it sounds like fun, you're lying. If for some reason you own a CD-i, its worth picking up (cheaper and better than those absolutely ridiculous Zelda games, anyway), but if not, it's probably best to let this one fade deeper into obscurity as Nintendo has been hoping for over the years. At least the voice acting is great ! The homie @eight.bit.andy tagged me to participate in #gamestack, and for once I knew just what I wanted to post. This here is a complete set stack of Milton Bradley Microvision CIB games, along with a CIB system. My uncle had one of these as a kid, which is where I got my first one from, but unfortunately these systems are very prone to bit rot and the screens commonly end up with LCD degradation, so I've since had to hunt down others. Released in late 1979, this was one of the first portable gaming systems; the interchangeable cartridges were very unique at the time. I haven't checked prices in years, but only a few of these titles are uncommon (Alien Raiders and Cosmic Hunter especially) so completing the set wasn't ridiculously difficult at the time, but damn was it satisfying.
