This has been my mood all week since my December payment hit my account. My biggest payment to date. So much debt is getting attacked. I love that this job is fun and is helping me reach my goals even faster than my traditional teaching job! .

True confession: I cried on Cindy Mi’s shoulder yesterday.
I was completely overwhelmed and humbled to be in the presence of VIPKid’s founder and CEO. ✈️ She flew in for the VIPKid Journey conference and I was overjoyed to get some special time with her and the other top teacher recruiters. ☺️
Cindy is humble and passionate. She is kind and driven. She perfectly encompasses the spirit of the hundreds of VIPKid teachers who gathered together this weekend. ❤️
As I hugged her, I saw MANY of your faces and remembered your stories. I thought of what a positive impact VIPKid has had on each and every one of you, and I rediscovered my “why” for doing what I do.
Helping you all is such an honor for me. Please know how much I appreciate you! Feeling rejuvenated after this weekend!
Thank you, everyone, for trusting me to be a part of your journey. It means the world to me!
Love,
Tina

Today's #vipkidmonday topic: How to grow your student following. Teaching with VIPKid is different than other types of teaching gigs in that the work is not guaranteed; it is your own personal business which takes time to develop. Here are my three suggestions in building your practice:
.
Be MEMORABLE: With over 70,000 VIPKid teachers, it can be easy to be lost in the crowd. Find something that sets you apart from the rest. In my first year of teaching with VIPKid, every week I had a new reward system. Rather than doing different rewards for each class/student/level, I would create ONE reward for the entire week and use it in every lesson, adapting it to the different ages and levels.
.
Be THOROUGH: While the lessons should be fun and engaging for the students, we also want to make corrections. For lower-level classes, focus on pronunciation and encouraging full sentences. In higher levels, extend the content through discussion; work on verb conjugations, and introduce new vocabulary. Parents love thorough teachers.
.
Build RAPPORT: Too easily these classes can become the "teacher show" with teachers doing tricks, showing their props, and giving long explanations. I get it - you spent hours creating those props and reviewing the lesson material. But it's important to keep the focus on the students - what are THEIR tricks? Where are THEIR props? How can THEY explain the concepts? Asking more questions will help the students become active learners in the classroom, rather than passive observers. It will also help establish a genuine connection with the student.
.
Finally, reputation is everything! The parents are your own personal advocates. They promote you to their friends. They shop around and compare notes about different teachers in order to find the best fit. For trial classes, the sales team at the head office also plays a role. They get feedback from parents saying they liked this teacher, or they want to try a different style, and the sales team will make recommendations based on the feedback they've received. Remember, growing your business doesn't happen overnight. It all starts with ONE student, ONE class. Happy teaching
I think it's time that I formally introduce myself . Hello world!
