On a sweltering summer day in Sac, Derek and I made it official. Today marks year 4. I was new to wedding florals and on a budget, but my sisters and I managed to arrange all the flowers the night before the wedding. Good times! Happy anniversary @garagechamps

This house is located at the corner of O and 3rd Street. It was built in 1858 for local banker and entrepreneur Benjamin F. Hastings whose business, the B.F. Hastings which is located in Old Sacramento served as a bank for Hastings and most notably as the western terminus of the Pony Express. However it’s not Hastings that this house has the greatest association but it’s to the second resident, Edwin B. Crocker who bought the house and surrounding land in 1868. Crocker was a California Supreme Court Justice and later legal council for the Central Pacific Railroad of which his younger brother Charles Crocker was one of the 4 original owners (the big four). In 1869, Edwin and his family traveled Europe amassing a large art collection. Upon his return to Sacramento he had the house renovated and in 1872 had a second building (photograph 4) constructed west of the residence to house their art collection. Today all of the buildings are interconnected and part of the local treasure, The Crocker Art Museum.
