Front row setters how do you pursue a tight ball? Do you go for the dump, the possible joust, the turn and set? All are great options and your options will vary due to your height and/or athleticism but regardless, setters need to be comfortable near the net. In this video, Emilee works to take her shoulders from perpendicular to parallel when close to the net. We want your hands between the ball and net and then tuck the right elbow in and side set the ball. If you leave your shoulders perpendicular to the net, you have a higher chance of a net violation or doubling the ball. It’s definitely not easy and takes a lot of athleticism.
