This week I am posting photos of mushrooms in my hand: here is a trio of edible mushrooms! Black Trumpets (Craterellus fallax), small yellow chanterelles (Cantharellus minor), and Cinnabar chanterelles (Cantharellus cinnabarinus)! These beauties are quite small but easy to spot in the summer/fall! One of my absolute favorites are the black trumpets. I like to take all three and add them to omelettes! .

Trametes versicolor (Turkey Tail). This photo is from almost exactly one year ago in California. Right now around Portland the fungi are pretty much absent, but the weather has been nicer recently, and when you walk in the woods you can just feel the mycelium underfoot gathering strength... #springtime #trametesversicolor #turkeytail #fungus #mushrooms #wildmushrooms #fungusphotography #mushroomphotography #mycophile #mycophilia #mushlove #mushroomspotting #forestfloor #forestfinds #fungiphotography #fantasticfungi #fungilove #fungusamongus #pilze #champignons #hongos #cogumelos #zwam #грибы #griby #菌類 #svamp #allthemushroomhashtags
Inocybe pallidicremea (Lilac Fiberhead). This photo is from last April, but I dug it up because I recently learned that these small purple Inocybe we find on the west coast can no longer be called Inocybe lilacina (sad! I loved that name!). Molecular research has shown that lilacina is only found on the east coast. Out here it’s been discovered we have Inocybe pallidicremea and another, paler-capped species called Inocybe ionocephala. (Full disclosure – I’m not totally sure that the one pictured here is I. pallidicremea and not ionocephala. It just seems likely given the strong purple tones.) As a side note, ‘pallidicremea’ is a terrible choice of names for a purple mushroom (yes, I know they turn pale in age, but that purple!). #inocybepallidicremea #inocybe #purplemushrooms #fungus #mushrooms #wildmushrooms #fungusphotography #mushroomphotography #mycophile #mycophilia #mushlove #mushroomspotting #forestfloor #forestfinds #fungiphotography #fantasticfungi #fungilove #fungusamongus #pilze #champignons #hongos #cogumelos #zwam #грибы #griby #菌類 #svamp #allthemushroomhashtags
Morels are starting to pop up in Moore County. Only found these two so far and it’s still a tad early. Hopefully this is a sign of an amazing mushrooming season to come
