BRIDAL GOALS. Isn’t my dear friend Mariah stunning?! I knew Brandon was going to lose it the first time he saw her and he didn’t disappoint! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Before the ceremony we took Mariah and her bridesmaids over to our little town square. I've always thought our limestone courthouse would be the perfect backdrop for photos, and I'm so glad it worked out for this day. It was rather fitting that we grabbed a few shots at this staple spot, in the middle of our bustling town square, because this little town means so much to Brandon and Mariah. They have been the best neighbors and friends that we could have asked for when we moved to the little town of Winterset! So thankful they asked me to be a part of their day!
Two years ago this week I walked in to my boss' office at Oklahoma State and gave my two weeks. I'd been working on my photography business for a few years at that point but I knew the time had come for me to take a risk and make the leap to full-time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At the time, Marcus had just made the decision to leave his coaching position at Butler and take a new job with Zoetis in Des Moines, taking us from two hours apart to seven. When I told my parents I wanted to quit my job and pursue my business full-time, I could tell they were a bit nervous. They have always been extremely supportive of my aspirations, but they were understandably a little concerned. Why leave a great (safe) job and take on the risk of self employment?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Marcus and I thought long and hard about the decision. After much prayer, we decided it was now or never. Time to take a risk and see where it takes me. Here I am two years later and loving this life we have built here in Iowa and feeling extremely grateful for the amazing clients who have been on this journey with me the last two years. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Starting a business can be scary, risky, and honestly - not for everyone. Don't forget that behind the scenes of these fun Instagram posts are long hours, tears shed, and very stressful days. But if you're passionate about what you do, like I am, those days are worth it. Thank you to everyone who continually supports this dream of mine. You have shaped my life and my business more than you will ever know. I will never take your support for granted. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Cheers to two years!
Two weddings, two engagement sessions, two videos, two client phone calls, and prep for this weekend's wedding in Ohio are a few of the things on today's to do list. Just wanted to take a minute to thank you all for your incredible support of my business. It's going to be a busy day but it's starting with thankfulness for every one of you who follows and supports me. Now here's to a (hopefully) productive day!
