We are cursed. My big boy is now sick (again) with a nasty virus & early pneumonia, which has exacerbated his asthma. He is miserable. This is in no way his first admission (premmie/asthmatic lungs), but it's the first time he's been able to comprehend and communicate just how shit he feels. I've never seen him so sad. And it's the first time I've had to leave him in hospital (with Dad) and come home. I hate being constantly separated from him at the moment, not able to be his comfort. It's heartbreaking. I have joked about how shit our luck is multiple times today but in reality, as I sit home alone snuggling baby Jack, I'm well and truly over it. Can we have a break now, please? .
.
*Thankyou to my ED family for taking the best care of my boy(s) & lifting our spirits today, from resus to paeds & 4E - you're all bloody heroes

Old sketch for a new book!
I am back to the land of winter (in less dramatic words: I came back to Zurich last week) and already tired of this cold. I would love to sleep until it’s spring again, but I have to work non stop which could count as hibernation since it’s too cold to leave the house. Winter lovers, I will never understand you — seriously how do get through these grey weeks?

Frangipane Crisps with Nutella.
I love frangipane. And I love crisps on top pies. Decided to combine the two and top with Nutella. Super simple but so yummy #improvbaking
RECIPE: (gluten free)
200 g (1.5 cups) almond meal
100g (1/2 cup) white granulated sugar
55 g (1 stick) unsalted butter+more for greasing
2 eggs
90 g (1cup) oats whole or rolled
100 g (1/2 cup) turbinado sugar
45 g (1/2 cup ) almond slices or any type of lightly toasted nuts
Preheat oven to 375F
Generously grease a 10x15 inch sheet pan (1 inch ht) with butter.
Sprinkle (evenly) turbinado sugar, oats and almond slices onto greased pan and set aside.
Beat almond meal, white sugar, butter, eggs together until it becomes a smooth creamy batter (food processor’s are faster)
Pour evenly into pan over the crisp. Bake for 20-25 min or until golden brown
Cut into squares or use biscuit cutter to make circles. Once cooled, spread Nutella. Bon app!
