When we first came up with the idea for @gather_midwest we were just having coffee and sharing our similiar feelings of needing more support and encouragement for ourselves and all the other creative womxn in our community.
What started as a conversation soon turned into something we knew we had to make happen. We didn’t know if anyone would care, but we knew we had to do it.
Fast forward to June 18 and 29 courageous babes showed up to a magical setting in the forest and shared their hearts with us and each other. It was powerful. — Head to our blog to read more about this day! ✨

The numbers don’t lie. WOMXN are starting businesses at a faster rate than we’ve ever witnessed in history. Minority womxn-owned businesses increased by a whopping 163% since 2007, and now make up 47% of all womxn-owned businesses.
But the reality is that 88% of us will never surpass the $100,000 mark, and only 2.2% will receive venture funding. Womxn are far more likely to start businesses due to “necessity entrepreneurship” meaning because of unemployment or the inability to find good paying jobs.
Womxn are far more likely to rack up credit card debt to fund our businesses. This is a major problem that is further propagating the ever divided wealth gap, which has held us back from building better futures for ourselves.
Knowing we live an estimated 6 years longer than men, and retire with less than 50% than our male counterparts - it could very well put us at a severe disadvantage later in life. (According to a recent Student Loan Hero study, womxn had an average of $46,614 saved for retirement whereas men had $90,189)
We need to invest in womxn, but more importantly we need a platform that’s built to support womxn. THE ART OF FATE plans to fill that gap by making it accessible for anyone to shop womxn-owned and to do right by re-investing 1% of all sales to fund a new womxn-owned business - EVERY YEAR.
This project has been my dream, and I can’t wait to share this next evolution of our brand with all of you. It will be a magical place to learn, connect, and feel a part of the stories that make up this growing community of womxn all around the world. I hope you’ll join us. — @jackelyndacanay
