“I know recently a lot of my Facebook/Instagram posts have been about my mum, but after seeing what she is going through it makes me realise how much we need to beat Alzheimer’s or at least some sort of relief.
I don’t usually share pictures of my mum like this one, it can be quite upsetting, there may be people who wouldn’t want me to share a pic of my mum like this, but it’s my mum l and the truth is, this is why there is no cure or advance in research. Not enough hard hitting adverts and information!
I am guilty my self of only sharing the best “happy” pictures of my mum because they nice! And make you smile. But in this picture you can see what Alzheimer’s has done to my lovely mum.
It is the cruelest thing I have ever seen!
The worst is having your mum there but missing her so so much .
This post isn’t for attention, likes or shares, I feel helpless and can’t do anything for my mum, the least I can do is raise a bit of awareness “ @snap_away_

ALWAYS REMEMBER FOR THOSE CANNOT
.
«My yesterdays are disappearing, and my tomorrows are uncertain, so what do I live for? I live for each day. I live in the moment. Some tomorrow soon, I'll forget that I stood before you and gave this speech. But just because I'll forget it some tomorrow doesn't mean that I didn't live every second of it today. I will forget today, but that doesn't mean that today didn't matter».
.
«Mis ayeres están desapareciendo y mis mañanas son inciertos, así que "¿para qué seguir viviendo?", podríamos preguntarnos. Yo vivo día a día. Vivo momento a momento. .

In honor of #worldalzheimersday today, we are taking a close look at these two brains, notice a difference? We are comparing a healthy specimen to the brain of a patient that suffered from Alzheimer’s disease (AD). In AD, there is an overall shrinkage in brain tissue - notice the grooves in the brain (the sulci) are widened & there is shrinkage in the folds of the brain’s outer layer (the gyri). Diminished organ size from a reduction in cell size or number is called atrophy. This process (atrophy) can also occur in skeletal muscles following a prolonged period of immobility (commonly seen in bed-bound patients or patients who have worn a cast for several weeks to months). Since physical exercise subsequently increases tissue mass, cell size & mitochondria - it comes to no surprise that recent research has shown that working out might prevent or delay the loss of cognitive function with aging & neurodegenerative disease. Exercise increases heart-rate, pumping more oxygen to the brain. This phenomenon may help to explain why physical activity improves learning & memory functions in humans & animals. These effects on the brain can be enhanced by concurrent consumption of natural products such as omega fatty acids & vegetables. The synergy between diet & exercise is believed to involve common cellular pathways important for neurogenesis, cell survival, synaptic plasticity & vascular function! This means that optimal maintenance of brain health may depend on our exercise & dietary habits! How’s that for some weekend motivation? Let’s make the intentions to be mindful of our routine this weekend ladies & gentlemen!

Scott Eastwood is showing his support for World Alzheimer’s Day in memory of his grandmother, who he lost to the disease as a kid.
The 32-year-old actor teamed with Allergen to direct people to LearnAboutAlz.com, a resource that people can use to learn tips, resources, information about the disease, and treatment options for caregivers. “Alzheimer’s is an unforgiving disease, and I know firsthand that when someone you love is suffering from it, it is hard to hold on to hope,” Scott said in a statement. “By working with Allergan and their educational initiative LearnAboutAlz.com, I hope to use my platform to show caregivers across the nation that their hard work is not unnoticed, and that there is a community out there and many resources available to support them. We want to encourage people of all ages to learn more about the disease on the website, and to join me by getting involved in the conversation on World Alzheimer’s Day on social media.” Photos: Michael Simon
