Hi world. I love you. I really truly do. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I woke up this morning feeling as though a veil was lifted. My heart is swelling while my body is settling, and finding the right words to describe such a peace feels utterly impossible; but I’ll try. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I sat in quiet stillness nursing my coffee as the sun rose over coral skies, pen in hand and words flowing freely. Every glance outside was met with a rush of awe and reverence as I watched dozens of trees subtly waving hello. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I sat in Joe’s lap, my arms tight around his neck, and felt our hearts beat in knowing unison. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I looked in the mirror and saw myself with all tattered and tortured dysmorphic curtains drawn aside. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I drove to therapy with an electricity buzzing between my fingertips, reverberating off of the steering wheel and into the open air. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I passed humans and birds and fields with tears in my eyes. Their light emanating and my own love pooling deep in my chest with a hint of familiar recognition. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I spilled coffee on my white tank top and fell into the sweetest, most accepting laughter. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I showed up to my appointment five minutes late with an abundance of gratitude for the woman holding space for me, even and especially when I’m perfectly human. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I witnessed all of my parts gather round in soft dialogue, my nervous system fully relaxed and pillar Self fully integrated. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I stepped outside of the pain and into boundless compassion as spirit coursed through me, between me, around me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I danced wildly through the kitchen, breakfast cooking and Trevor Hall filling the airwaves. I sang as he sang of divinity and cleansing and healing mother energy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ People ask me what coming home feels like. I think it feels like this — like a love so deep and expansive that there simply isn’t room for anything else to pull me away. Like being completely found in all of my surroundings, in the beauty of the purposeful mess

Instead of buying into the capitalistic idea of what self-care is, let's practice *real* self-care (which doesn't always feel fun/cool/inspiring/glamorous/instagrammable, but is instead about recognizing what we need to feel more safe, nourished, and supported, and acting on those needs).
