Today I overcame the fear of anticipation of being unwell on a speed boat. Everyone who knows me knows that I have extreme motion sickness on flights, boats and windy roads. This makes me nervous and slightly anxious one or two days before the given event. Today I decided I would prepare myself and not let fear of the possibility that I just might fall sick rule my life. And guess what! It was the best boat trip ever! Check out my insta stories later this evening to check it out. We danced, we swam in caves in the bluest waters I’ve ever seen. We danced to Justin Bieber with the best boat skipper @gospodin_boriss :) We also went to the famous Church of our lady of rock and did some cultural stuff. It was such a fine day. Thanks @dblexander for being so patient with my motion sickness rant and gently motivating me to overcome these discomfort which keep me from fully enjoying life! It was a splendid day. Do you have any such fears that you keep you from living life to the fullest? Or do you have any fears of anticipation of discomfort? How do you deal with them? Or do you have any tips for my motion sickness lol. The pose in the photo is called Bakasana or crow pose (beginner variation) which does involves getting over the fear of a face plant which is reasonable. Of course it involves some fair amount of upper body & core strength. So next time you are trying to achieve crow pose, think of leaning into your edge a bit. Gerade habe ich eine wundervolle Podcastfolge von @yogaeasygermany mit @sandra_von_zabiensky (eine unglaublich inspirierende Frau) gehört, in der Sandra auch über die Bedeutung von #Akzeptanz von unveränderlichen Dingen spricht (übrigens auch eine der Säulen von #resilienz). Dabei ist mir selbst bewusst geworden, dass ich in den letzten Wochen sehr sensibel gegenüber Kritik von Menschen an mir geworden bin. Ihr kennt es vielleicht: man bekommt von 10 Menschen tolles Feedback und Komplimente, und dann gibt es eine Person, die über irgendwas jammert, was man vermeintlich falsch oder nicht so gut gemacht hat. Manchmal haut mich Kritik regelrecht um, sodass ich lange daran zu knabbern habe, bis ich langsam wieder zur Ruhe komme und die Dinge wieder ins richtige Verhältnis setze. Gestern war so eine Situation: ich habe den für abends geplanten Outdoorkurs am Rheinufer schweren Herzens absagen müssen, als 2 Stunden vorher ein Unwetter über der Stadt aufzog. Auf allen Kanälen gleichzeitig verbreitete ich das Update, und sofort bekam ich Kommentare von einem Herrn, dass ich wohl nur „Schönwetter-Yoga“ geben würde, und dass man doch trotzdem Yoga machen könnte. Verrückt, wie mich dieser Seitenhieb in dem Moment durcheinander gebracht und aufgewühlt hat! Obwohl ich wusste, dass ich die richtige Entscheidung getroffen habe ♂️. Geht es euch manchmal auch so? Another day - another element
Day 5 of #ALOboutelements is dedicated to the element of air. It is located in the heart - so therefore we chose dancers pose, a heart opener here.
It is directly connected to the heart/ chest area. When it comes to yoga we can focus on that element through finding a relationship to the breathe, on and off the mat. If we practice without paying attention to the breathe it’s more gymnastic (fine too, but definitely missing a huge sensation mentally and physically). But it’s the power of the breathe that refills our energies, that created lightness in mind body, that reduces any anxious symptoms and to fully feel and be alive.
Without air, no human being could survive - so obviously we shouldn’t take it for granted, neither in our life and practice nor in terms of environment.
If we’re more aware to what is happening to the breath as we engage in different postures and sequences or as we simply inhale and exhale deeply we can expand the air element in ourselves. The moment we feel the stressors of life are increasing, we have one immediate tool to tear them down. Poses that “open the heart space” such as backbends and expansions of the chest are very useful for being more mindful about the breathe. Hosts:

„Never let your inner fire burn you. Rather let it feed you and mould you.“ Day 7 of #ALOboutelements challenge is about the element of fire. And while it’s often considered as something negative we underestimate its power. It’s the element of transformation. It’s about change, absorption and courage. We often have to “go through the fire” to undergo this transformation. Challenges and anxiety, stress and chaos will cross our ways - but exactly this fire arouses our strength, our energies and our transformation, so that a new layer of growth can shine through.
So maybe the next time you’re into plank pose and maybe suffering because of it’s burning - think of the transformation you go through Hosts:

Life teaches you lessons all the time, then tests you on that lesson by increasing the amount of intensity you can take. Just like the asana practice. First you practice one pose and then it lays the foundation for more challenging one. If you think you are strong then yoga will challenge you by presenting poses of increasing difficulty. Be prepared because life will do the exact same thing. Yoga counts when life is difficult, when things feel overwhelming. Nobody needs help to enjoy a sunny day when everything goes your way. But to be strong enough to be nice and share love when everything goes wrong, that is the strength of yoga.

Yoga has been part of my life for long time and it has certainly been the most steady part of my life however, it is thanks to those years that I spent working as producer that I became confident and independent. I was lucky to have one of the best mentors in the region and to have worked in a production house that truly had love for their work. It is indeed a tough industry, you have to be fearless, fierce, headstrong, willing and able to be available at a moment’s notice, take instant decisions. In an industry dominated by men I felt the need to double my efforts to be recognized. In my 9 years working in advertising I faced many situations that have helped shape me and my personality. I left that industry mostly because my health was severely suffering with multiple anxiety attacks.
That’s not to say that yoga practitioners lead a better or even healthier life, it’s just a different life with different priorities.
I believe that there is no right or wrong way of living, just different paths with different priorities.
I believe that every experience in our life has its time and purpose. If I knew then what I know now, I would have dealt differently with my stress levels, but then again I would not have learnt what I know now had I not changed my lifestyle. #lifeexperiences @sorav.753
