Despite my RBF I had THE BEST time celebrating my wedding with my husband the last few days in Vegas.
How many of you take rest days regularly?
I myself am guilty of not taking them as much as I probably should ♀️
Some of why I train is for mental health. If I haven’t worked out I just don’t “feel” like myself. ♀️
BUT sometimes your body and mind both need a break. Maybe they’re both tired, maybe they’re both over worked, and maybe your recovery or level of mental arousal just isn’t where it should be. ❌

INGREDIENTS (2 servings)
1 ripe banana
1/2 cup oats
1 scoop vanilla plant based protein powder (I use @botanicahealth)
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup egg whites
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk

DIRECTIONS
1. Heat up a large frying pan on medium heat with coconut oil spray.
2. Place all ingredients in the blender.
3. Make sure the pan is heated and pour your pancake mix, cook one side until you see bubbles forming at the top (about 2 min or so) then flip until cooked throughout.
4. Top with pure maple syrup + berries.

People not warming up!! Whether it’s warming up correctly or not warming up at all. Dragon Slayers, warming up is crucial to ensuring that you have the safest and most effective workout you can have that day. When warming up dynamic is the way to go!
Dynamic warm ups are a series of slow deliberate movements that are relevant to what your planning on working out that day.
For example, on glute day banded clamshells and slow controlled walking lunges are an excellent way to warm up your lower body! This will help prevent injury, and make sure that you’re actually going to be working the muscles you intend to. It’s super easy to find different routines, dm me and I would love to help you put one together!

I am coming for you world!! Today I hit some speed bumps and my shadow self started to jump into the front seat. She wanted to drive and I told her “NO”. In the most compassionate way of course. But she stayed up front waiting for an opportunity to take the wheel and drive us down a much darker path. One filled with self doubt, negative talk and feelings of depletion and not enough. Instead I just allowed her to be and decided to take it slow. Much slower. I took my time all day and will now go home to rest. Rest is the easiest way to reset. ⠀⠀⠀⠀

As an endurance runner, we RARELY use our top end speed in races, so why would we want to train there?

Imagine your body like a car .....
.
If your car can only go as fast as 60km/hr (a terrible highway car), then driving slowly around the city at 50km/ hr is going to be pushing the limits of your engine
.
HOWEVER, if your top end speed is 150km/ hr, how easy is that car going to be able to drive 50km/ hr? You could even go up to 60-70km/ hr and CRUISE without taxing the engine.... (i.e improved running economy)
.
Although we don’t need that top-end speed for races, adding in a component of POWER and SPEED in your training will increase your overall work capacity, which will ⬆️BUMP UP⬆️ ALL your training paces!! Now that pace you couldn’t hold for more than 1km just became your 10km RACE PACE .

Holy shit, I have been self employed for 8 years!!! @fitmdtraining . It all started cause I graduated from school, moved away from home to a small town that had very few jobs, so I tried to create one for myself (who know this would actually work). It has been so incredibly rewarding, with lots of challenges and stress along the way. Thank you to the 100’s of hard working clients that have trusted in me over the years to make me look like I know what I’m doing .. You seriously mean the world to me. I couldn’t have the freedom and life I live without you guys. I don’t what I did to deserve all this good, but I hope for many more great and successful years. .
