When I took this photo as a thumbnail for my next video, it made me realized I haven't done much City Scape Night Shoots while I'm here in Tokyo. What a shame because I'm literally in THE prime location filled with neon signs and lights to take dope shots like this! I am absolutely making it a goal these next few nights to go out and capture some photos and videos! In the meantime, I published a new video on How to Purchase Camera Gear in Japan and How to Save a Great Deal of Money doing so! See the link in my bio!
So I might be insane to say this but... I'm considering selling my Sony FE 85mm 1.8 and paid the extra for the Zeiss Batis 85mm 1.8 purely to achieve my goal of owning all the Batis lenses. But on the serious note, after using the Batis for almost two weeks now in Japan, I can feel the difference it gives off. The Zeiss 3D Pop is real y'all!! The bokeh it produces really makes the subjects stand out! Or am I just being crazy, or do you feel the same way? Swipe right to see my sample photos. I will have to run a test between the two 85s when I get home from Japan. Lemme know if you're interested in seeing the comparison as well! BTW, just dropped a new video featuring my NEW Favorite Accessories for the Sony a7III and a7RIII. See the link in my bio!
Bought a NEW LENS in Hong Kong! The Zeiss Batis 40mm f/2 CF! It was backordered everywhere in the US so I am glad I was able to pick one up while I'm in HK! Check out my faux guide on buying CAMERAS and LENSES in Mong Kok via the link in the bio! Lemme know, what are your slick deal tips shopping for gear? Photo by @j.k.filmslimited
In your opinion, what's the most versatile prime lens? Ever since I picked up the Zeiss Batis 2/40 CF in Hong Kong two months ago, it's been my go-to lens for pretty much everything: YouTube, Wedding, Food, Travel, etc. Prior to this purchasing decision, I debated about getting the Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 again - a lens that I regret selling a few years ago. I wanted the lens again for YouTube Talking Head Style vlogs because the f/1.4 is incredibly helpful for blurring out the distractions in the background. And it was the focal length I was more fond of over the 50mm at the time. But I held off on it when I heard that 40mm was coming and wanted to see how different it is despite being almost too similar in focal lengths. To my surprise, I love the 40mm A LOT. The Close Focusing capability really gives this lens the edge in versatility. I can shoot wide without worry about any sort of distortion. I can shoot tight to get marco-ish shots on details that I want the viewers to focus on. Sure, it's not f/1.4 but I'm hardly ever a 1.4 shooter nowadays and I much value the smaller form factors when it comes to gear since I'm on-the-go often. Without making this post too long, I dive deeper into comparing the Batis 40mm with the Zeiss 55mm in my latest YouTube. See the link in my bio. In the video, I also talk about the update that corrected the issue that the Batis 40mm had.
