Bolivia This is Daniela Rodriguez. Along with her father, Pedro, and her brother, also Pedro, their project Sol de la Manana (a branch of Agricafe) is endeavouring to save the specialty coffee industry in Bolivia. Sol de la Manana is a project by team Rodriguez, who have a long history of sourcing and exporting coffee from small farmers in Bolivia. With coffee being ditched by many Bolivian farmers in favour of planting the coca plant—a yield that brings four times the price of coffee and that carries far less growing issues (leaf rust & ageing plantations), Daniela’s father, a solid agriculturalist, decided to do something about it. Rodriguez’s Agricafe and their project, Sol de la Manana is focused on investing in and planting new coffee plantations to sustain the Bolivian specialty coffee industry. Harvesting since 2015, their very first plantation from this project, La Linda farm (meaning ‘the beautiful’) is a great example of their success.
