First of all, I am so excited to be moving from Resource #specialeducation to Self-Contained #specialeducation for the next school year! I could use all the prayers, positive vibes, and advice as I get my classrooms ready! Yes, you read that right...classroomS! One will be for academic instruction, the other for functional instruction! I am so excited! Since I have two rooms in my own little corner of the most precious school, I have decided to give my rooms a name for two reasons: 1. To break the stigma of a “special ed classroom” and 2. It’s fun. So much has changed in one year, but not D’s outfit. This is not your typical transformation picture. You’re probably thinking, “you were pregnant, it doesn’t count.” What you don’t know is how unhealthy and miserable I was a year ago. I was eating fast food and drinking soda daily. Exercise was nonexistent and I felt awful. . I knew this was not the life that I wanted to live for the rest of my life. I wanted more. I wanted to chase my kids around and not run out of breath. I wanted to feel good about myself and not hide behind loose clothing. I wanted to be genuinely happy. I wanted to set a positive example of living a healthy lifestyle for my kids. . I gained over 50 pounds during my pregnancy. Depression consumed me when the weight wouldn’t come off after having my son. Change had to happen in my life. . I focused on my fitness and nutrition and lost the baby weight. With more hard work, I lost an additional 20 pounds. I am currently 20 pounds lighter than I was when I got pregnant. A total of 70 pounds down since last August. . It’s not about the weight for me, it’s about how I feel. I feel happiness so deep in my soul and found the confidence I had lost. I truly feel like I’m the best version of me. A better and more present mom, wife, and teacher. . Mama, if you need help, I’m here for you. No one should be on their journey alone. I don’t like this picture of myself. When I first saw it my thoughts were, “My hair needs to be recolored.”, “My face looks so swollen.”, “Do I really have smile lines that are that bad?”, “Why are the bags under my eyes the size of grapes?”, “You’re still not skinny.”, “At least that cellulite on your thighs is hidden.”, “You’ll never lose that last 25 pounds.” But tonight I started to think...where did this hateful, negative self-talk come from? A precious mentor of mine kindly pointed out to me this last week that I am way too hard on myself. Always have been. That my first question when hurt is “What did I do wrong?” “What is wrong with me?” I finally heard how I speak to myself today, and my mentor is right. I am so hard on myself. I’m learning with Jesus this week how to show myself some grace. I can talk a big self-love game, but I realize today I talk the talk and not walk the walk. So here I am, posting a picture I do not like of myself because it’s time to throw away the words I use to bully myself and choosing to actively hear the words that Jesus speaks over me. Those words are: I love you. I forgive you. I accept you. I will not fail you. I am protecting you. I have it all figured out. You can trust me. What do you need to hear Jesus saying today? My friends jokingly teased me after I met Kat at Summit because they said I was giddy happy. And I was! It was amazing to meet a regular old person and a true modifier just like me from the at-home workouts that I have watched, learned from, and loved. Kat was the modifier on two different programs I’ve done, and she kept me motivated to keep going and know that I CAN keep up! She’s had amazing results on her journey and she was so sweet and kind to meet! She didn’t even plan to have a meet up, she said she was shopping and the line just started to form! Talk about kindness! @lovesizeme

The brick workout that tried to kill me. . Biked the course and then walked, but it was HARD. Especially with the 90ish degree weather and high humidity making the real feel insane (I just got home and it currently says real feel temp is 109 degrees). So I guess I can’t feel so bad that it was such a dang struggle today. . Squinty McSquinterson (that’s me - see photo for proof ) did wear a sports bra as my top on the beach today though which was a first and I honestly didn’t have a second thought about it. Granted it could just be because I cared about literally nothing but getting in that lake and cooling off but I’m counting it as a win regardless . Gave the new tri shorts a go today too and they feel like winners so that’s nice to have checked off my list. . Reconfirmed today that I’ll be coming in last at the event but I’m a-okay with that as long as I do my best! . Now off to a cold shower and some FOOD. Your girl is hungry.
