I frequently get asked questions about what makeup products were in Sharon's makeup bag. Last year when Sharon's items were auctioned off we got to take a look at what products she owned and used. There were three lots: One consisting of eye makeup, the second was Sharon's brushes, skin, and lip products, and the third was Sharon's false eyelashes. A good video tutorial to watch if you want to recreate Sharon's iconic look is available on @Juliens_Auctions YouTube channel with Debra Tate and her daughter Arieana. In this post I'll just go into detail of what each product was and how Sharon usually applied it.
Eyes: Sharon would use a Revlon eyeliner in black to line her lash line to make her lashes appear thicker, then she's apply a Revlon eyeliner in white to her waterline to make her eyes appear bigger. Afterwards she'd use her Maybelline eyebrow pencil in a taupe shade to line her eye socket creating what's called a "Banana crease" and line her lower lash line with a flick outwards from the outer-corner of her eye to create a what appears to be a false shadow from her lashes. Afterwards she'd add her false lashes and apply mascara.
Then she'd brush her eyebrows upwards, fill them in with her Maybelline eyebrow pencil in taupe and glue them down in the desired shape she was going for.
Lips: Sharon would typically only wear Vaseline on her lips but for photoshoots or events she would line her lips with her taupe Maybelline eyebrow pencil and apply a frosted light pink shade of lipstick, Sharon liked to tone down the natural color of her lips.
Afterwards she'd apply a light contour to her nose and cheeks and apply compact powder to secure her look.
On her off days, Sharon was typically seen without or wearing very light makeup because she was quoted saying she loathed heavy makeup and preferred a more natural look. Many products Sharon used are still available in stores today. This is just one style Sharon would wear and it was very inspired by actress Greta Garbo. I noticed she primarily started wearing this look in '67, but over the years she perfected it and the look became more subtle and natural.

Big whipped hair was very much the go-ahead style in the 1960s. We already showed you when hair was big and biggerin the 1960s. For those with short hair, voluminous bouffant wigs were popular. •
