This place doesn’t make me feel as small as it used to. Each mile builds a mental map. Each brushstroke recalls more stories. How disappointing I can’t tell them in a single mark. What a relief. Every day is basically Earth Day when you manage a sustainable “organic” farm (I put organic in quotes since we’re not certified). It’s a constant balance when you grow things on a commercial level and want to maximize efficiency, but also love the birds, butterflies and salamanders, earthworms and so many others critters that don’t have a voice to protect themselves. Being a farmer and steward of our land is the greatest privilege and responsibility. Plus I love all the pretty flowers that we grow
