An {almost} rainbow of minis all ready to head off to Aberdeen tomorrow afternoon! I think dyeing and labelling mini skeins may be my favourite thing. And I love seeing what combinations get put together! Sunday will be my first @aberdeenyarnfest - will I see you there? I've been loving dyeing Coulmore Bruno this week - a very special one-off, limited edition, yarn which will make its debut at @aberdeenyarnfest . When I first visited Coulmore to meet the Scobie family and their wonderful organic North Country Cheviots, I was particularly taken with Bella's new tup Bruno - a Valais Blacknose........ he'd been one of those spur of the moment, can't resist, kind of purchases I think! Last summer I couldn't resist buying a few fleeces from Bruno's daughters, alongside my usual Cheviot hogg. This gorgeous, very characterful, Cheviot x Valais hogg wool then went off to @border_mill to be spun. In discussion with Kate we decided to add 50% Alpaca to increase quantity and softness. It has been spun as a 2 ply Soft-spun Light Aran (205m/100g) - and really is delicious. It is taking dye like a dream!

On Sat 8 June 1000 - 1600 they are hosting a Knit in Public event st the Bon Accord Shopping Centre in Aberdeen. There are also still places available on a variety of workshops on both Sat & Sun. I'm excitedly waiting for this new knit to finish blocking - I can't wait to share it with you! My lovely {and, thankfully, willing to learn new knitting skills} mum knit this one. I'm trying to be a bit more thoughtful about what to knit-up in BIY. So this cardigan is, hopefully, light enough that I'll be able to wear it at shows without becoming too pink on the face {which is a hazard with some of my samples!}. I'm also trying to slowly build a collection of samples which show my main repeatable colourways knit up. I guess something like a solid indigo or cochineal pink is fairly self-explanatory, but I love tonal shades and they're a little trickier to picture as a knitted fabric.........this is Seaweed {dyed with bramble leaves and Indigo, a little more green in reality but I'll get some better photos once it is dry}.
