[short video entitled “Non-Binary Abortion Stories” from @AJPlus of 2 people sharing stories about each of their abortions. Cazembe (a community organizer he/him) is a southern, Black, trans man and Jack (an abortion rights activist they/them) is non-binary, trans, Afro Latinx. They talk about their experiences re gender in accessing abortion services and why it is important to remember that “the only bodies that can get pregnant are not just women.” The video is made up of 2 individual interviews of them, each speaking to the camera, fully captioned, and ends with a photo of them together, smiling.

Non-Binary Abortion Stories Video Transcript:
Cazembe: I didn’t get an abortion because i was raped. I got an abortion because i didn’t want to be pregnant.
Jack: It was never difficult to choose to have an abortion. Never. I wanted one. I’m a non-binary, trans, afro latinx.
Cazembe: I’m a southern, Black, trans man. I had to say more than once that it was me that was getting the abortion because i was dressed in masculine clothes and was presenting as a masculine person, it was assumed, i guess that i couldn’t get pregnant.
Jack: I never once was gendered properly. My pronouns are they, them, theirs. I’m a non-binary person, but i present very femininely, plus i was in something that was called a women’s clinic.
Cazembe: Competency training around trans and intersex bodies is just something that i feel like is necessary for every healthcare professional to go through because the only bodies that can get pregnant are not just women.

Abortion is still legal! While restrictive and unconstitutional laws are being proposed, all of these states still have open clinics that up and running. Support us and our sister funds so people can keep accessing this abortion care.⠀

I made a zine about holistic pre- and post-abortion care because abortions are normal and roughly 1/4 (I think the real number is higher) of people with uteruses in the US will have at least one abortion during their lifetime. Taking care of yourself or someone else with a uterus is an act of resistance. My hope is that this 12-page zine provides people with some of the information they need to better care for themselves physically and emotionally before, during and after an abortion. I’ve included how to show up for someone who has had an abortion, supportive herbs, nutrition, holistic support options, additional resources and more. It’s available for $15 on my website.
I want this information to be available to anyone who wants or needs it. Your purchase will support 2 other humans who will benefit from this deeply needed information. For every zine purchased, a printed copy and a digital copy will be made available to someone in need.
If purchasing this is cost prohibitive for you, please email me at hello.radiantwoman@gmail.com.
Now, more than ever, we must stand together, show up for each other and take care of ourselves. We will not be quiet. We will tell our stories. And we will not stop fighting until we are free.

Pro-choice means being pro a womans right to decide what she wants to do with her own body.
Ive known a lot of people who do not agree with abortion, but still acknowledge that their beliefs should not come in the way of someones agency over what to do with a pregnancy.
I am both pro abortion and pro choice, but I dont expect everyone to be the former, as long as they keep their beliefs from getting in between women seeking healthcare.
