My son turned 3 yesterday.. Hard to believe that he is reaching his school age soon. He enjoyed his birthday so much, we had small get together in the evening to celebrate the special day. Although I treat him with cake and all the other food in the evening, I have always served him his favourite traditional food for lunch just like my mom did when I was little. As it was his favourite items, I didn't have to force him or sit beside him to make sure he is eating. There can never be enough cake! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This year I’d like to dedicate my birthday post to my husband and his reminders for me to ‘blow out the candle first’ (swipe left and listen to all the videos audios!) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So as a newly crowned #32yearold I thought I’d share a few of my sentiments: 1. You still wake up up at 6.15am on your birthday, don’t get breakfast in bed and learn not to crib about it. 2. You look in the mirror and get a fright! Yep, it’s time to invest in good skincare coz unfortunately, aging really does happen no matter how much of a kid you feel on the inside! 3. More on that ‘feeling like a kid inside’ point; you now have to make important life changing decisions for the actual kids in your life so it may just be time to #growupgirl . 4. You vaguely remember the fact that your favorite #backstreetboys song is in itself a 20 year old song now. 5. You slept at 10pm the night before and missed out calls/messages/wishes. 6. You tell yourself that 32 is the new 22 as you go up the stairs with creaking knees. 7. You will think many times before consuming your own #birthdaycake because you’re suppose to be getting back to clean eating this week. 8. You randomly remember your 16th birthday was actually 16 years ago today. *YIKES* 9. You realize in 10 years you will have a 16 year old of your own. *DOUBLE YIKES* 10. Once upon a memory, someone wiped away a tear. Held me close and loved me, thank you Mother dear. . In the lead up to Mother’s Day, one of my friends sent me this old photo. It’s of my late, ex mother in law wiping away my tears. It’s funny how my loved ones in heaven know when I need their touch. It’s been a week of big emotions and this picture arrived in my inbox when what I desperately needed was a hug. The kind that nobody could administer better than the late great Fran. . I miss her every day. As much as I miss my own mom. She was the epitome of comfort. She smelt of CK1, olive body butter and home. She kept a fridge full of comfort food and whipped up the best cheesy mashed potatoes, that could make even the worst of your worries disappear. Also, she ran the most insanely decadent bubble baths. If I seemed in any way needy, it wasn’t at all strange to find myself submerged in her bath tub at 3pm on a Tuesday with an oversized glass of wine and a bowl of carbs. . Here’s to our moms. And the women who welcome us in and mother us without suspicion and without prejudice and without ego. They are the real effing MVPs!

How did @alikazimi and I manage to get a picture of just us? Well, we drove to the top of @bluemtnresort to check out the views from up top but there was ice everywhere and clearly not safe for the kids to get out on. So they stayed in the car with family while we got to walk out to the edge and enjoy the views. Have you ever unwittingly become that parent that wants your child to do exactly what YOU had in mind?! I told myself I would never be one of those. And on the most part, I’m pretty okay at letting my kids be who they are. But this particular day, 10 minutes into arriving at a birthday party where I was hoping to get some nice family & friends pictures #myasher goes and gets his face half covered with this skeletal/monster/whatever you wanna call it kinda face paint.
