I shared this on FB last night and the response was phenomenal, so I thought I’d also share here.. In the last week I have heard of four South Australian businesses closing their doors. I have read comments on social media of disbelief. Of sadness. Of regret that they ‘never’ got to go there. The thing is if we don’t support our local businesses, they won’t exist. They can’t wait around until you decide to go. They can’t keep going, or employ staff, if the customers or clients aren’t coming in the door. And sometimes it is just too much emotional and physical toil to keep going, and a change is needed for self care. Businesses also can’t keep going without marketing. It is non-stop. When you are a business owner there is no sweet spot where you can sit back and rest on your laurels. You also need extra support, education and knowledge growth to run your business correctly. I know that not everyone can always afford to buy locally, but even if you can’t, you can still support local. You can do this by: - liking their page - sharing a social media post - leaving a review after a visit - sending them a message/ email telling them of a great experience/outcome - tell your friends - make a trip to a local distributor rather than buying online - check packaging in supermarkets and buy SA where you can - follow pages like us at SA Woman (we focus on women-owned businesses) and others I’ve tagged - head along to local markets, like @gatheredsa that has ONLY South Australian businesses. We have an amazing state, filled with incredible businesses and lots of hardworking families. Please support them where you can. I know for me with our small businesses the $$ we earn go first into reinvesting back into our businesses and then into supporting our children and purchasing from other local businesses.
